Callista sighed, she was surrounded by first years, most of them were the same height as her. She frowned and pushed her hair to the side and fidgeted around with her school robes. Harry and Ron told her that the sorting wasn't as bad as what everyone thought it was. All she had to do was walk up when they called her name sit on the stool and wait for the sorting hat to say what house you were in. Simple enough, right? An older looking woman came out of these doors in front of them holding a piece of parchment in her hands, she cleared her throat to get there attention.

"Welcome to Hogwarts. I am Professor McGongall. The start of the term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. The sorting is very important ceremony because, while you are here, your house will be something like your family within Hogwarts. " Professor McGongall looked at all of them and she eyed some of the students down who looked like they were causing trouble but  then continued on with her speech.

"You will have classes with the rest of your house, sleep in your house domitory and spend free time in your common room.  The four houses are Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. Each house has it's own noble history and each house has produced outstanding witches and wizard. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn you house points, while any rule-breaking will lose house points. At the end of the year the house with the most points is awarded House Cup. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever house becomes yours." She moved towards the doors, and opened one of them.

"The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily in front of the rest of the school. I suggest you all straighten yourselves up as much as you can while you are waiting." She disappeared behind the door and the first years all hurriedly starting fixing their hair and robes most just continued talking and shoving each other around while others just looked horribly petrified. After a few minutes Professor McGongall came back with a big scroll in her hands.

"We are ready for you." She pushed open the doors and led them down a pathway between tables. All the first years kept looking around in awe taking everything in some even pointing to the ceiling that was bewitched to look like the night sky, Hermione had filled her in on some of Hogwarts quirks. They all stopped at the beginning of the hall when Professor McGongall stood in front of them and unrolled the parchment.

"We will begin with, Callista Black." There was loud murmurs coming from all the tables while the Slytherin table had some smirks on their face. She could heard the loud whispers from the other tables and see the petrified faces on some of the other students.

'You reckon she is Blacks kid?'

'You think she's just as crazy as him? What if she murders us all!'

'Who cares, she's fit!'

Callista stood there for a moment before she took a deep breath and stepped forward and sat herself on the stool. She looked over the tables and looked to see Harry, Hermione and Ron sitting together. They gave her nods of encouragement and she smiled smally and then she started hearing a voice in her head  and her eyes grew wide.

"Ahh, another Black...How interesting, it wasn't too long ago I had your father. What a trouble maker he was but a brilliant wizard at that. And you seem just like him..No other choice but..."

"GRYFFINDOR!"

The whole room was quiet for a second before the whole room erupted into applause, the hat was taken off her head and she walked down and sat next to Ron and Hermione they patted her shoulder and smiled.

"Congrats Cali, you made it." She smiled and looked down at the table fiddling with the plate. The rest of the first years were sorted with no trouble, Dumbledore stood up at the podium to make a few announcements.
