"Isabelle? Wake up, love."
Isabelle heard Bill's voice speak to her softly as she slowly opened her eyes, allowing them to adjust to the bright sunlight shining through the window.
"No, I'm okay." Isabelle mumbled, burying her face into her pillow. "I was having such a lovely dream."
She heard Bill chuckle behind her and felt a hand rub her shoulder gently.
"It's nearly one, Iz. I was starting to get worried that you would sleep through the entire day." Bill said.
Isabelle lifted her head from the pillow and rolled over with a soft groan. She realized he was already out of bed and dressed in sweatpants and a t shirt, just as he always was when they didn't have any plans for the day.
"Why can't I?"
"Because Mum's going to start worrying, too. Unless you want me to tell her why you're so tired..." Bill teased.
"No no, I'm awake." Isabelle said, sitting up slowly and suppressing another groan.
Isabelle pushed the warm blanket off of her reluctantly and swung her legs over the side of the bed. As she went to stand, she felt her legs shake and her knees lock. She almost fell to the ground, but Bill quickly wrapped his arms around her and held her up.
"Iz! Are you okay?" Bill said, trying to hold back a light laugh as he caught her, already knowing what was going on.
"I'm fine." Isabelle nodded, holding onto his arms to steady herself.
Bill sat her back down on the bed. "Hold on, let me go get you some pants." Bill said, leaving her there with a prideful smirk on his face.
"You're so proud of yourself, aren't you?" Isabelle said when he returned in front of her with a pair of loose sweatpants and helped her put them on.
"I am, actually." Bill grinned, pushing a bit of hair behind her ear and kissing her forehead softly before helping her stand up again.
He was able to help her get downstairs and sitting at the kitchen table slowly. Molly was almost finished making lunch for the three of them and Arthur, who was outside. They managed to avoid any suspicion from Molly, as Bill kept his arm firmly wrapped around her waist to hold her up and make the walking a little easier.
Bill brought her a glass of water and her plate of food after sitting her down, then took the seat next to her as Molly and Arthur joined them.
"Such a gentleman." Molly smiled at her son before turning to her food.
"Yeah, very gentle." Bill said with another smirk, making Isabelle send him a sharp glare and smack his leg underneath the table.
Luckily neither of his parents seemed to pick up on what he was implying, and they continued to eat their lunch while chatting about other things, like work, and acting like nothing had happened the night before.
After lunch, they moved to the living room and decided to spend the day inside by the fire. Bill sat on one end of the sofa while Isabelle laid along it with her head resting in his lap.
Bill ran a hand through her hair gently and twirled the strands in his fingers while she read a book she had been reading out loud to him, much like they did during their first summer together as a couple.
"The men in the room suddenly realized that they did not want to know her better. She was beautiful, but she was beautiful in the way a forest fire was beautiful: something to be admired from a distance, not up close. And she held her sword, and she smiled like a knife." Isabelle read, glancing up to see him watching her with a soft smile.
