Fuck forecasters. If they'd been precise with their forecasting; it would've been easy for the scouts. With Erwin's expected mission in a mission or without. It would've still been easy. Hanji grunted, the horse slowing down as they entered the forest now thick with snow. Possible footsteps of (Y/N) by now was topped, making it even more difficult for the Section Commander to find her.

"Focus, focus, focus. The snow started approximately 2 hours ago, the M-Marlene Squad's blood were still fresh-- the attack maybe happened 30 minutes ago. (Y/N) must've chased the titan. There are no footsteps due to the snow but... I'm positive she's somewhere near." The scientist mumbled at herself, her eyes warily roaming around the forest; desperate to spot her missing lover.

She couldn't say aloud her next thoughts. The thought that (Y/N)'s possibly freezing by now; laying somewhere down on the snow dangerously. Suppose (Y/N)'s too smart to do that, right? Hanji had learned not to underestimate her, (Y/N) knows the risk of snow especially without their coats. She knows she'd freeze to death. She's smart, she knows well what to do. Atleast, that's what Hanji hopes.

But what if she's wrong?

The Section Commander's breathing suddenly hitched, a sudden thought of (Y/N) lingering around, hardly breathing; gave her an immediate anxiety attack. Hanji's never felt this kind of nervousness after Petra's death, the fear of losing someone she dearly loves, again. If even, this feeling was much worst. Much, much worst.

The horse's speed continued slowing down each step it takes, the snow's thickness by now is practically around 2 inches. Impatient, Hanji slid off her horse; tying the leash on the nearest tree she spotted. She knew how dumb of a move it was, but the horse was slowing Hanji down and it was hopeless to continue riding it. She doesn't have that much of an option. Huffing a sigh, Hanji ran her hand over the horse before walking on her own.

Truth be told, Hanji didn't know where she was heading to. The forest was confusing as for now, seeing as to how the map's on Levi and her previous experiment-- the compass, was an utter failure. The sun had set too, making it more difficult to know whether she's going south or the opposite.

Either way, she wouldn't— couldn't give up. Despite the coldness and the fact that she's probably going to freeze an hour from now; she still couldn't give up. (Y/N). Atleast i until she finds (Y/N). She walked, inspecting and staring at every tree she passes by, hoping to spot anything that came from (Y/N)'s ODM gear. Much to her disappointment, there was none for 7 minutes.

Hanji silently shivered, the temperature dropping low. "This is just hopeless."

But (Y/N)... What if... What if she's barely breathing? Freezing to death? What if she's hoping for Hanji to find her? What if she's lost? What if she's—

She whimpered, not knowing whether in pain (when she's completely uninjured) or in continuous anxiety attack. Leaning her back against a tree, Hanji sat on the snow-- the tears were back as she imagined (Y/N) alone... following Petra's footsteps.

"Please, please. Not again. Please stop this. Please. (Y/N), you promised me."

She panted, chanting (Y/N)'s name like a ritual— desperate to hear her lover's voice again. To catch a sight of her beautiful, deep eyes. Or to feel the warmth of her hug. Her strawberry flavored lips. Her touch.

Hanji sobbed, feeling her heart growing weaker and weaker as she does. It was too painful to know, the fact that (Y/N)'s probably going to break her promise to Hanji. Painful to know that (Y/N)'s not coming back to her arms again. Painful to know that (Y/N)... Hanji shut her eyes close, the tears flowing down her pale face. She was so hurt, so nervous, so wary. So mad at everything, at everyone. She just wants to be with (Y/N), how's that so hard? Why does life have to be this cruel? All she wants is to be happy, to spend her days with (Y/N), casually going on vacations with her friends. Why does it have to be so complicated? Why should someone need to sacrifice their lives to achieve that kind of freedom? Why should Petra... Everybody...?
