Armin ran— just when he thought he was the slowest soldier among the 104th; he rather found himself outrunning the others. Connie wasn't mistaken, though, it really was (Y/N)'s doctor rushing.

Rushing? For what, exactly? The teen dismissed the thought, hoping that nothing dangerous has happened. But logically speaking, the doctor ran. With some nurses. That would mean something far dangerous happened. Still, what if it was just another patient they're attending?

Nevertheless, they continued running until they reached the infirmary, all heavily breathing from the sudden exercise. They were already exhausted from spending almost all night searching for the Section Commander and their friend. Armin recalled just how tiring it had been.

"What r-room is (Y/N) in?" Sasha was the first to speak, her eyes roaming around the busy place. Nurses were walking here and there and doctors were entering countless rooms it's almost impossible to make out their faces from how fast they move.

(Y/N)'s doctor however, was nowhere to be found.

"Captain Levi said it was room 12."

They made their way to the said room, passing by the others. As they moved closer and closer to it, Armin's heart skipped a beat. Whether it was from exhaustion or nervousness— he didn't know. All he care about is to see (Y/N) safe and sound.

He cared about her deeply. He wouldn't dare forget the day during their training days when she helped him carry his baggages. He'd thought back then that (Y/N) was a bitch, always snobbing at people who didn't do anything to her. But it was that one time when he realised she wasn't, and that she was nowhere near a bitch.

Armin bit his lip, afraid of the thought she's gone. And what if she really was? He'd beat himself up for not finding them sooner.

"Do not enter?" Eren muttered loudly, making Armin snap out of his thoughts. "What the fuck does it mean? Hey! Open up!" Banging, Eren's fury got the best of him he swear he was so near shifting to his titan form.

Just why the hell won't they let people enter? They're (Y/N)'s friends, they deserve to know what happened to her! "Eren, stop!" Mikasa took a hold of his arm, pushing him back to a halt.

"What's so bad that happened that they held up this sign?" Jean audibly said, asking more to himself while Mikasa was busy stopping Eren from pounding again. Sasha and Connie could only watch the scene unfold as Armin dramatically held the doorframe.

He's never seen this expression of Armin before; a face stoned in both shock and pain. Jean couldn't make out whether he's doing it for the sake of doing it or he concluded something that's heart wrenching.

But why? Frankly, at most times, they don't let people enter because the patient's health is critical— "No way."

All heads snapped at him in confusion as Jean stares shockingly at the door. But impossible, it couldn't be, right? They saved them in time. They saved (Y/N) in time. She still had a strong pulse when they carried her back to the headquarters— it couldn't be. It just couldn't be!

The door flung open and they met a nurse staring at them in surprise.

"Time of death, 8:22 AM, (Y/N) (L/N). Time of death, 8:23 AM, Hanji Zoë."

T-time of death?!

"(Y/N)!!" Sasha's piercing scream echoed through the infirmary. Armin couldn't move from his place as Jean fell on his knees in anguish, his heart stopping as he did.

He couldn't sink it in. Everything.

Death? Does that mean, (Y/N)... The Section Commander... are both gone? Like, just suddenly gone? Eren rushed to his friend's side as Mikasa caught up with him. Connie placed a hand softly on Jean's shoulders; tears streaming down his face.
