I have a crush on tiktok's vampire. The only problem is that Chase doesn't do romance, or at least that's what he says.
Every time I bring up relationships and talk about the kind I want to have, he rolls his eyes and tells me that he doesn't care or doesn't want one.
Chase and I have always been close friends, but I'm afraid that he'll never see me as more than a friend, which would crush me.
I was spending the night at his house tomorrow, the day before Valentine's day, because Chase likes to throw parties for all the single people on the romantic holiday.
As I packed my bags, I scrolled through Instagram, looking at the cute pictures of different couples longingly, wanting that for myself.
I sat my bags by the front door and returned to my room, falling back on the bed and staring at the ceiling while my mind raced with thoughts.
I knew I needed to confess my feelings to Chase tomorrow before the party. Knowing him, there would be more kinds of alcohol than you could count.
If both of us were drunk, I'd accidentally slip up and Chase would forget and I would have to work up the nerve to tell him all over again.
This hadn't been a problem in years previous, but I had to develop this stupid crush a few months ago on Thanksgiving.
I still remember the moment I looked at him and realized my true feelings that were a lot deeper than either of us knew.
I would try and keep it a secret until I moved on, but I'm always around him and I know I'll spill at some point, so I rather it be intentional.
At first, I thought of planning some big gesture to impress him, but I knew he would hate that and would reject me in an instant.
So I decided to just tell him in private, straight to his face. He appreciated when people were honest and vulnerable with him.
I fell asleep that night positive that the next day I was going to tell my best friend exactly how I felt about him.
Chase's POV
Everything was set up perfectly for the party a whole day ahead of time and I couldn't be more excited.
All I needed to do now was wait for Vinnie to come over so he could help me pick out an outfit for tomorrow.
I typically just go with black or purple, but he insisted I wear some brighter colors this time.
As I reached for my phone to see where he was, I heard the door bell ring. I opened the door and Vinnie stood there, smiling at me.
"Hey Chase."
"Hey." I replied, stepping out of the way so he could walk in.
Vinnie carried his bags up to my room and plopped them on the bed that I kept specifically for him.
Once he had unpacked all his things, we went into my walk in closet where we spent the next 2 hours picking out an outfit.
Later on, we were watching a movie and eating takeout when I felt eyes on me. I turned my head and made eye contact with Vinnie.
He smiled awkwardly and looked away, leaving me confused. After we finished eating, I threw away our stuff and turned the TV off.
I could feel Vinnie's eyes glued to me the whole time, and although I was basking in the attention, I was still confused.
"Chase?" Vinnie called out to me from the kitchen.
"Yeah?"
"Can we talk?"
I didn't respond and walked into the kitchen instead, standing right in front of him and slightly leaning against the counter.
"I need to tell you something."
"Go ahead, we tell each other everything." I said, wondering why he was acting so weird.
"I know you don't like relationships and stuff, but, um, I, um, well-"
"Would you spit it out? It can't be that big of a deal."
"But it is! I like you Chase, like, I have a crush on you."
My jaw dropped as I stared at him in disbelief. I stood frozen for a second before asking, "Really?"
"Yes really, I have for 4 months now." Vinnie said, still not looking at me.
Before my mind could actually register what I was doing, I grabbed Vinnie's face and connected our lips.
This time, he was shocked, but once the shock wore off, he melted into the kiss. His hands found my waist and his tongue found my tongue.
Soon, the simple kiss of love turned into a heated make out session. Vinnie left me breathless when he finally disconnected our lips.
He lifted me onto the counter and stood in between my legs, resting his hands on my thighs and placing a soft kiss on my nose.
"I know we just kissed, but I need to hear it. Do you like me, Chase?"
"Yes, Vinnie, I like you."
"Good." He smiled, kissing me again.
"How long have you liked me?" Vinnie asked.
"Since 4 and a half months ago." I responded honestly.
"Wow, and I thought you didn't want a relationship."
"Well, I do want one, but I built up these walls when I was younger because I always got hurt when I let people in. I guess it was hard for me to accept that you were breaking them down."
While I confessed this to him, I unknowingly started crying and he wiped my tears away, giving me a sad smile.
I reached up and connected my hand with his hand that was resting on my face, when our eyes met again we shared a loving gaze.
"Chase, will you be my boyfriend?"
"Yes."
