A/N: So, I have two versions of this oneshot and they are both based off of the song "hero n villain" duet by Natalie Chavez. I'll put a link so y'all can listen to the song, it's really good. I'll post both versions of the oneshot so you guys can read them both :)

Light woke up after what seemed like ages. He looked around him and saw what could only be described as a dead land. The sky was dark and black, the ground was gray, and there were no trees, or any kind of greenery.

Light looked down at his clothes. They were still bloody from all of the bullet wounds. He sighed and got up.

Light didn't know where to go. It seemed like there was nowhere to go. So, Light just started walking.

Light was walking in nothingness it what seemed like forever. He was lost in thought the whole time, thinking about his own downfall. Thinking about how he should have won, and it wasn't fair how he lost.

Light continued walking, until he saw a familiar figure come into his line of vision.

No...it can't be him...

Light walked towards the figure and sat down beside it.

"Hello Light-kun."

What are you doing here? I don't think that you were invited

"What are you doing here L? I thought that you would be in heaven."

L shook his head, and laughed softly. "You forget that there is no heaven or hell Light-kun. Only nothingness."

What are you doing, dear? Aren't you tired

"You looked so tired Light-kun. Sit with me." L patted the ground.

Light sat down with an exhausted sigh.

"Are you okay Light?"

Light laughed sarcastically. "Do I look okay L? I literally have bullet wounds all over my body right now, I've been walking for who knows how long, and I lost all of the pride I had before. So no, I'm not okay L."

L looked at Light sympathetically. "I'm sorry."

"You're sorry? If I were you, I'd be ecstatic. You got what you wanted. Kira's downfall."

"I wasn't there to see it though."

Light scoffed. "This isn't enough for you? I'm already here and you can see how I've basically lost everything because of what I did. I lost my dignity, I lost my family, friends, I lost you."

Me? L thought to himself. "I understand why you would care about losing everything else, but why would you care about losing me?"

"Believe it or not L, I actually enjoyed having you around. I liked talking to you, arguing with you, being in your company. You're the only person that's ever interested me."

L looked at Light with wide eyes and nodded slowly.

"I feel the same about you Light-kun."

L observed Light's clothing and appearance. His clothes were soaked from blood, his face had dried blood on it, his hair stuck to his forehead, and his eyes looked weary.

L reached out and brushed some of the hair out of Light's face.

"Why did you do it Light? We could've been so much."

What else could you do with the cards that I've been dealt

"Someone had to do it L! The world was rotten, and the death note was the only way to rid it of evil!"

L shook his head. "No Light-kun, anyone else would have taken one look at that notebook and be horrified of the power it possesses."

Light clenched his jaw in frustration. Near had told him the same thing in the warehouse.

"Do you think I wasn't scared?! I was terrified the first time I used the notebook! I lost weeks worth of sleep because I was so scared. But I knew I had to use it, because if it fell to anyone else's hands it wouldn't be used for anything good."

L looked at Light sadly. He lost himself in all of his power.

"Whatever L, I don't feel like arguing about this again. You won, and that's that."

"True, I may have won. But, we still both ended up in the same place. I told you, as long as we would be handcuffed together, we share the same fate."

L was right, no matter what either of them did, no matter who won or who lost, they still both ended up spending the rest of eternity in nothingness.
