The only way Light could describe his world was black and white. Sure, that might have been because he lived in a world where you can't see colour unless you see your soulmate, but nonetheless everything was the same, boring. Go to school, go home, maybe have his parents grill him about his grades. It was the same thing day in and day out.
Light wondered what his soulmate would be like. Who was the person that would take away a world of dullness, and replace it with something more beautiful? Would Light's soulmate even be on par with his intelligence? Because if not, Light didn't see the point of them being his soulmate.
Not that soulmates mattered to Light. Light really wasn't one for believing in destiny or true love. Although, there were times when Light wondered what colour his own eyes and hair were, or what colour the sky was. But Light was already used to seeing the world in black and white. Seeing the same thing everyday, and living a life that lacked excitement.
Until that day. That one fateful day when Light saw a notebook fall from the sky onto the grass. He picked it up, took it home, and discovered its true power.
Light was able to possess the power of a god with this notebook, judging good from evil, perishing the people he deemed horrible from this earth.
Light had found something to make his life interesting.
. . .
Light knew the police were after him, but he was smart. He knew he wouldn't be caught.
Light continued killing criminals, but everything still felt too easy. Being hunted by the police was too simple, Light wanted more. Sure, he was able to have the power of a god, but he felt like he lacked a challenge.
That was until, when Light turned on his TV and saw a broadcast. A man by the name "Lind L Tailor" said he was L, and that he would catch Kira.
Light laughed. How stupid could someone be? L just gave him the two most important things he needed to kill on a silver platter.
Light wrote down "Lind L Tailor" down in his death note and counted down from 40.
Light sighed. If L had been smarter, they could have had fun.
L would die in 3, 2, 1.
Light looked at his TV and saw L collapse and die. He let out a victorious laugh. He won.
Although, Light found his supposed victory to be cut short when a big gothic letter L appeared on the TV screen.
"Amazing, I didn't think it would work!" The letter from the TV said.
Light was taken aback. What was happening?
"Kira, it seems like you can kill without being there in person! I wouldn't have believed it, but I just witnessed it with my own eyes."
Light stared at his TV in disbelief.
"So Kira, if you're watching this I will tell you a few things. First, I lied about this being a worldwide broadcast. This is only being broadcast in the Kanto region of Japan."
No, this can't be happening. Light can't be caught. No way.
"Secondly, L really does exist. And he will catch you. I will catch you. So go ahead Kira. Kill me! Do it now! What are you waiting for? Do it!"
L was taunting him. But he couldn't do anything to him. He didn't know his name nor his face, but L knew where in Japan Kira was operating.
"Kill me!" L continued taunting. Light couldn't see his face, but he was sure L had a smirk on his face.
