Chapter 2 - The lake

carrying on from the empires game, i wanted to write what happened when they go to the lake so.. here it is :)

when i got back from the game my heart was beating so fast i thought it might beat out my chest. i jumped onto my bed and recalled the events of the night. all i could remember was his hypnotising smile. i got into my pyjamas brushed my teeth and got into bed. the warm feeling inside me drifted me into a peaceful sleep.

i woke the next morning feeling bright, happy and excited. it was the start of the summer holidays. a perfect time to go to lots of baseball games and see Pete more. i couldn't wait. he said to meet at the lake at 12:00. i wondered if i should invite friends incase it gets awkward.... no i can do this.

i walked downstairs to get breakfast still thinking about Pete. i must have been day dreaming because before i knew it, paper was everywhere. "Y/n!" my mum shouted. i winced and looked down at the destruction i had caused. "sorry mum." i went down to help pick up the papers that had been dropped. and she went to at the same time and i felt my head hit hard against hers. "OW!!" she exclaimed. "omg sorry" i didn't know what to do with myself. anything i did seemed to cause more trouble. "please just go, i will do this myself." i sighed and slowly walked back towards the table. my sister giggling at my defeat. i stuck my tongue out at her and grabbed the cereal. the day hadn't began well. i hope it gets better when we go to the lake and i don't embarrass myself in front of Pete.

"right i'm heading off to work and your sisters going over to a friends house is that alright?" my mum asked gathering her things to head out. "uh yeah, is it okay if i go out to the lake at 12:00?" i asked sweetly hoping she would say yes. "um yeah sure," she said not really listening she was busy making sure she had everything for work. "what am i missing.." she mumbled trailing off i could see her racking her brain for the answer. i grabbed the car keys from the kitchen table. "keys." i said and threw them to her. "oh yeah, thank you" she said catching them and slipping into her shoes. "but yeah, just make sure your not out too late, okay?" she said still distracted "yep!" i said trying to hold back the excitement in my voice, thankfully my mum was too occupied to notice. she rapidly kissed me on the forehead and opened the door to head out. "your jackets on back to front." i said, this was a normal occurrence "oh yeah, thanks" she said not changing it. i knew it would get pointed out at work and then she would pester me why i didn't mention anything. but i let her go and watched as she drove off.

Now i had to get ready and wear the perfect outfit. i knew he had an ex girlfriend Jesse. i had seen her before with him. i had to make sure i was different to her. she had worn a denim jacket. so i couldn't wear anything like that. after a while of searching through my draws and wardrobe. i decided on. my denim pleated skirt and a cropped white top with a light blue simple flower in the centre. Making sure to wear my bikini underneath. i fixed up my hair and put on my blue empires cap. my locket dangling from my neck.

before i knew it. it was 12:00. i took a deep breath and headed down to the lake. when i got there i couldn't see anyone. for a second my heart sunk, he had stood me up? "Y/n!!" i heard a familiar voice shout. i turned around to see Pete running towards me holding a brown paper bag. "Whats in the bag?" i asked curios. he frowned i looked up confused "its a surprise be patient." i grinned. "but when will i get to see the surprise?" i asked looking up at his face golden locks covering part of his enchanting green eye. he blew it out the way. "after we have done this." he said i looked at him confused, he took off his shirt and jumped into the water. splashing the outfit i had worked so hard to prepare. "hey!" i said laughing "so, are you coming in or what??" Pete yelled motioning for me to jump in. i slipped off my skirt and took off my top revealing my bikini. i could feel his eyes on me as i did so. and i ran in. i jumped onto him pushing him under. but he pulled me down with him. we both let go at the same time and swam back to the surface gasping for air. i locked eyes with him and we laughed. a surge of water came my way so i splashed him back all the while we were laughing like mad.

then there was a moment where we locked eyes and the world seemed to go silent. a moment where he looked at me the same way i looked at him. his smile faded and suddenly everything was serious. he looked at me his wet hair dripping water down his face. we inched closer until our noses were an inch apart. he tilted his head and leaned forward and his lips met mine. a surge of emotions filled me i felt scared, happy, nervous, worried i wasn't good enough. but overall of those emotions i felt amazing. all through to my finger tips to toes. i kissed him back and felt his hands around my waist as mine ran through his hair. time seemed to stop for a moment. and then reality came crashing down.

we pulled apart. and i looked at him i could feel my cheeks burning as i blushed. we were still holding each-other and it felt so right.

we chatted for hours about, everything i learnt so much about him. and he about me. his surprise was a picnic for us to eat. he had made cute little sandwiches and brought cupcakes for dessert. i felt like this could go on forever. but it started to get dark and i had to be home. "i have to go home before it gets dark." i said hoping he wouldn't mind. "of course," he said. in the most understanding way. we both smiled and i kissed him goodbye.

the warm feeling was back.
