Chapter 10 - Sneaking in

"Pete, he basically saved my life, yes I had to talk to him" I said before gently kissing his worried lips
"We just don't know that much about him so, yeah I don't know how I feel about him"
He said as if he was trying to think of an excuse for us not to like James
"Pete, are you a little bit jealous?" I said teasingly. Standing on my tiptoes so our faces would be closer. He smiled and shook his head.
"No, wh- why would you think that" he said not looking me in the eye. I grinned and grabbed hold of his hand leading him out the shop.

"What should we do?" He asked trying to slow down my dragging
I didn't answer and after a while of silence he stopped completely and stood easily while I tried and tried to keep dragging him.
I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Pete stop your too strong" I said still trying to shift him out his position. He laughed, picked me up and swung me around in his arms.
"You're so cute" he said after he set me down. I stumbled a bit and he caught me
"Hey! Now I'm dizzy" I said holding on to his arm for support. He laughed again and kissed me on the forehead while running his hands up my arms until they reached my cheeks. He stroked them gently and as I looked up at his eyes I saw a hint of sadness waving on his face.
"Pete are you okay?" I said suddenly worried. he smiled confused
"Yeah.. why wouldn't I be?"
I shook my head slowly
"I don't know, I guess I just want to know that you are alright" I said looking down
Pete's face quickly lit up.
"Come with me!" He said grabbing my hand and almost running off with it

I quickly followed him off and soon we arrived at his school. I looked at him confusion plastered on my face.
"It's summer Pete we still have a week left why are we here?"
He looked back at me with a completely straight face. "We are going to do my sister proud" he said a slight smile forming in the corner of his mouth
"What do you mean-" I said looking from the school to him
"Shhhh" he said his hand on my lips and we crouched down so we were hidden behind bushes.
"Just follow my lead okay. There are teachers still at school and we can't let them see us"
I gulped and followed him and he quickly ran into the school
He turned to me "wait you don't go to this school"
"Well i just moved schools and all I have had is the tour so I don't really know where we are going" he smiled and held my hand as we walked through the corridor. Suddenly a nun appeared around the corner and my heart raced. I was new I didn't want to get in trouble before I had even gone there. Pete saw her too and so quickly dragged me into the supply cupboard it was really small and so soon we were standing extremely close both our breathing heavily. I smiled up at him as we listened out for the footsteps to go away.

But suddenly a familiar voice could be heard among others Pete looked at me also recognising it. "Do you know-" I whispered but he cut me off by placing a finger on his lips.
We both listened hard even putting our ear on the door trying to decipher what they were saying. They must have got closer because suddenly I could make out a woman's voice
"I'm sure you will make lots of friends at this school James" my head instantly turned to look at Pete. Who had leaned his head on the door and clenched his jaw. I laughed silently and poked him.
"I swear, he is everywhere" he whispered after a few more pokes.
I placed a hand on his shoulder. "Your soo jealous" I whispered laughing at him. He turned to me as if to say no but no words came out his mouth
But then I started to hear the voices getting louder. I was confused at first but then realised it was because they were coming closer.
"Yeah I think we have some spare uniform in the supply closet" I heard someone say
"Then you can see what you think about it"
I pushed Pete into the costumes on the side and ran in with him. However trying to hide behind clothes is hard when you can feel Pete's hand on your waist and his lips on your neck.
"James won't do this now will he" he whispered into my ear. I motioned for him to be quiet but his hand didn't move.

The door clicked as it was opened and light poured in revealing an interesting assortment of things in this strange little cupboard.
"They should be somewhere in there" I heard the nun say from the corridor
And then saw a familiar body come into view. With the same brown hair as before.
Pete moved my face so I was no longer looking at James, so that our eyes were aligned. He kissed me slowly on the lips and placed his hands gently on my back. Pulling me closer.
I heard a box scrape as I accidentally kicked it. I pulled apart and looked to see if James had noticed. The little light that was coming from the doorway wasn't showing his face so I couldn't see his expression.
"You guys carry on with the tour I will just keep looking" he said suddenly turning around to the nun and supposedly his mum.
They walked off and James quickly closed the door and turned on the light. He looked around the crowded room. Pete squeezed my hand while James looked where we were.
He slowly stepped further into the cupboard and ran his finger along each of the clothes still looking suspicious.
"Come on" I heard his whisper to himself
"Whoever you are. Come out now!" He said looking around the room
Pete and I exchanged worried glances. And he entwined his fingers with mine.
