" Welcome to Don Basco University" A woman who is the same age as my mom but, unlike my mom's sweet personality, she was the complete opposite of sweet " I'm Maam Banagwa. I'm going to be your adviser for this school year. I have big expectations for all of you, especially I handpicked most of you..."
I decided to enroll in a different school from the school I originally wanted to be in. Not because I don't have the guts to study there alone, but It just felt wrong to be there when Man and I made the decision together.
I have no idea why I have this kind of mindset.
It has been a month since Man left the country. It turns out he left with him a bit of my motivation to be a high school student. I still have the plans I have in mind so that's good. I just need to be confident and have that determination I always have.
I thought everything was going to be fine
"Please introduce yourself starting with..." She looked at her school records "Arnaiz"
Of course, there's no escape when the teacher starts calling in alphabetical order.
I stood up and prepared to flash the sweetest smile I have "G-good M-morning, My name is S-Samantha Erised Arnaiz. I'm 12 years old...T-Thank Y-you"
I watch how numerous of my classmates effortlessly said a bunch of compliments of themselves while it took me my whole strength to say mine. I wanted to add my interest but I couldn't say it.
And came the person who outshined everyone...
"The name's Eclise Felix Tan. I'm still 13 and I'm a Sagittarius. I'm also the oldest in my family and also the most handsome one in it. People often tell me that I'm charismatic and energetic but I'm just that bubbly and friendly. If you're wondering where I live well, I live in everyone's heart because I'm being loved by many" He winked to everyone "I hoped to be friends with all of you and that we can make memories together"
I could tell everyone was impressed by what he just did. How he was able to say those words without a trace of nervousness. He was that carefree.
I spent the rest of my freshmen year studying to have better grades. I wanted to top the class but I would always have to share the spot with Eclise. I never thought he was this smart and to be honest, I haven't seen him studying or even holding a book.
He was always surrounded by a lot of people. He was always smiling and laughing everytime I enter the room. He was everyone's favorite guy to hang out with. I have to admit, class is fun when he's there to brighten up the mood.
One day it was my birthday, I never told anyone about my birthday except for one person which was Mara, who turns out to be Maam Banagwa's daughter. I asked her to not tell anyone that it's my birthday. At first, she hesitated but then I offered to treat her snacks for recess. We spent our free time eating cupcakes I bought at the canteen. I was contented with her singing me a happy birthday song even if she's the only one who did.
I asked my mom to fetch me late that day because I wanted to help Mara with her homework. She insisted I should go but I stayed. I should've never told my mom to get me very long because I only had to help Mara for only an hour. It turns out her mom had somewhere to go. Before they went, Maam Bangwa greeted me a happy birthday; I thanked her after.
I sat waiting for my mom to pick me up at the library, specifically by the window. When I first came to enroll in this school, I remember sitting here and admiring the view outside, the old tree and the sun from here. I rested my chin as I admired the sky that was turning orange. The sun was about to set.
