"y/n, good morning! i'm so glad you were able to come in today, the kids get rowdy on thursdays."

i flashed a grin at the elementary teacher, who had a kid hanging off his neck. "of course, sugawara, you know i'd never leave you with no defense against the kids."

the sugary haired teacher returned the smile. "i'll go unlock the back so you can start unloading things, yeah?"

i nodded and headed out of the office, back to my truck to park it behind the school.

on thursday, i made weekly drop-offs of veggies and fruits to the school. this month's pick was broccoli and cauliflower. the kids were starting to feel the spring breeze and became rowdier as the summer approached.

i met koushi at the back door, noticed that he now had the little kid propped on his hip now.

"need any help?" koushi asked, like he did every week.

"i'm good koushi, but you better get back to your kids. don't want them to end up writing on the walls again."

koushi nodded firmly and left the door propped open but returning to the students.

-

"i don't know what you put in those vegetables of yours but they definitely work magic with the kids." both koushi and i watched the kids eating their lunch and felt as their energy diminished with every bite.

"it's all grown with love." i said, completely joking, even holding my hands up and forming a heart.

he waved my hands away, "no need to be sarcastic, i was giving you a compliment."

"yeah, yeah. anyways, i need to head off to the bakery."

"alright, i'll see you around. take care!"

we both waved and i started the route to my next drop off destination.

-

the smell of warm breads and yellow hues washed over me as i pushed the bakery's door open, being greeted by the bell chiming above me.

a small head popped out of the kitchen, a freckled face coming into the main room.

"ah! y/n!" the pretty boy greeted. "i wasn't expecting you yet, give me a minute."

"take your time, tadashi."

i made a point to look into the decorated cases and see what goods tadashi had in stock.

i settled the boxes of eggs i was carrying on the counter as tadashi made his way to me.

"hey," he wiped his hands on his apron, "these the eggs i ordered?"

"yeah, i have the flour in my truck too. i'll bring it in."

i brought the bags in and tadashi sent the required money into my account.

"hey, have you seen the newcomers yet?" the baker chatted up from his kitchen.

"people moved into town?" i had lived in the town my whole life and could count the amount of people that i saw move in on one hand.

"i'm not sure, word says that they're only here for a few months."

i huffed and peered out of the bakery's glass windows. "tourists?"

"i don't think so, tourists don't rent out a house in town, you know?" when i looked back at tadashi, he was propping his arms on his counter.

i smirked, "let's go check them out?"

he returned the look, "let's."

-

we drove around town for a little bit before managing to find what house the 'newcomers' rented. small town, tight community, so it wasn't that hard.

i slowed as we passed by, tadashi and i peeking out of my window.

"do you see anybody?" tadashi asked and i shook my head.

"can i help you?" a voice startled us.

tadashi jumped slightly in his seat as we both turned to face said voice.

"um, sorry. we were just trying to, um.."

"we're part of the welcoming committee and we just wanted to greet the new neighbors." i picked up for tadashi.

"yeah!"

the blond crouching by tadashi's window squinted at us, seeming suspicious of us. "and how do you know we're the new neighbors?"

"it's easy to recognize new faces in town," tadashi explained and the blond shifted his focus to him.

he said nothing for a moment and then spoke, "and does the welcoming committee just stalk homes in their dusty trucks or do they come to the actual house?"

i wanted to feel offended at the comment on my vehicle but he did have a point.

"are you going to invite us in? or just stand there bitching at us some more?" i retorted.

he looked disgusted by the mere thought of me now but he rolled his eyes and pushed off the truck. "i'll stop bitching but you're not invited."

both tadashi and i watched him walk in front of my car and towards his house. he unlocked his door and before closing it, flipped us off.

"wow, immature much?" i got the car moving again.

"i don't know," tadashi trailed off and i turned to look at him, "he was kind of pretty."

"oh my god, yama." exasperated by the boy in my car.

"whaaatt, he was."

"i'm taking you back to the bakery and then you are never to speak to me again." i proclaimed.

the boy snorted, "puh-lease. you know you'll come back after a day or two."

"... whatever."
