*A/N* PLZ READ. This story takes place 10 years after the events of High School Musical 3: Senior Year. So, I guess it takes place in 2018. I will try to update this as frequently as possible. If you are reading this, please read my other fanfic "Always Loved You." It is about Studio C and JK Studios. If you don't know what that is, they are comedy youtube channels and I encourage you to go check them out.*
*Also, I do not know much about basketball, so please don't be mad at me if I don't get all the facts right.*
Here it was. The NBA championship. For the third time in my eight year career with the Golden State Warriors, we had made it to the championship. We have won it twice.
I have been chosen to sing the national anthem at the start of the game. I am a little nervous. I have not sang since my high school graduation. I have not sang since Gabriella.
Just thinking her name brought back so many memories. I chose to go to Cal State Berkeley so I could be close to her. We dated during college for two years, until I got my job for the GSW. I couldn't divide my time between her and my games easily. She was the one who called it off.
And I was going to ask her to marry me, too.
Thinking about marriage brought me back to the present. I looked into the stands and saw my beautiful girlfriend, Maddy. She towered over some of the crowd she is almost as tall as me. I met her blue eyes and she waved at me. I waved back and could feel the weight of the little velvet box in my sweatpants pocket.
Tonight, if we won the game, I was going to ask Maddy to marry me. I loved her. She was smart, beautiful, and... that's all I can think of. But I know that I want to marry her.

The time has come for me to sing the National Anthem.
"And now, the National Anthem sung by Golden State Warrior number 12, Troy Bolton!" The announcer booms and I take microphone.
As I sing, I get a little nervous. I try to imagine that I am back on Ms. Darbus' stage, singing along with all my old friends. It worked and I am not nervous anymore.
***
"Three, Two, One!" The announcer says. "And the Golden State Warriors win!"
We won! It was a hard game, but in the end, I shot the winning basket. It seems like everybody from the stands is trying to come onto the field and celebrate with us. I see Maddy coming down.
She runs to me and jumps into my arms. Her lips collide with mine.
"Great job Baby!" She tells me and kisses me once more.
"Thanks honey. Your such a great fan." I let her go and reach into my pocket. It was time.
I take out the ring and get down on one knee. Her eyes widen and her hand flies to cover her mouth. My heart flutters.
"Maddy, I love you." I say, smiling up at her. "I want to spend the rest of my life with you." I can feel everyone's stares and the TV cameras boring into me. "Will you marry me?"
"Yes!" She exclaims and I slide the ring onto her finger.
I stand up and she hugs me and gives me a quick kiss before she studies the ring.
"It's so beautiful, Troy!" She kissed me and walked up her friends, showing her new accessory off.
All of the team comes and attacked me in a group hug. I hear a chorus of "congrats man" mixed in with "Good luck with that one."
I am a little surprised that Maddy is too busy admiring her ring to even say that she loves me. I push that thought aside as my buddies congratulate me. I am sure that Maddy will get over it eventually. I am show happy that I get to marry her.
But still, I feel a pang in my heart as some part of me warns that Maddy is not the one.
