A few nights after Themi had burnt her letter Juni announced they would return to the club that night. Themi's attendance was optional. The siblings had barely spoke to each other, the air was still thick with a disapproving tension. She looked at Makis through her peripheral vision and he slightly bowed his head. He was telling her to go. They had worked out a sequence of gestures that meant they could communicate years ago, they had a phase of not using them in case Juni got suspicious so had recently started it back up. Juni made her announcement, looked at her siblings, and left. Tonight she had decided to curl her hair so would need the hours to do it. Keahi looked at his twin, smirked, and went to the living room windows. He knew he shouldn't be sporting for a fight but he just could not help it. He felt like a caged tiger, none of his siblings had been rising to the fiery waves of anger he sent out, frequently, had left him disappointed to say the least. Themi, who had the weakest resistance to his waves usually even walked away rather than fighting back. He was bored. Makis seemed to radiate colder air these days Themi had noticed it didn't seem so bad anymore. She welcomed it. She went to the kitchen while Makis went to the shower.
"Themi."
"Keahi?"
"Get me some water."
"A please would be nice."
She looked up and he was standing in the doorway, his dirty blonde hair falling into his eyes.
"What did you say?"
"I said you could say please when asking for something."
He pushed her out the way and grabbed a glass from the cupboard.
"I'll get it my-fucking-self then."
She went to leave the kitchen but he grabbed her slender arm. His fingers met around her wrist and he pulled her towards him.
"Don't think we don't know what's going on."
"What do you mean?"
He was inches from her face. His red eyes shone with intent.
"You and my twin sneaking around. You're both hiding something. We know."
She snatched her arm back, it hurt, he had been gripping it so tightly. She held it towards her and put herself out of his reach.
"Keahi, like usual, you don't know what you are talking about. I suggest you finish your drink and get lost."
"Or what?"
He sounded genuinely curious but the look he carried in his eyes alone told her this was a game he was setting up.
"Keahi, be more than what you are."
With that she walked off leaving him puzzled.
Elijah had told Christopher to go back to the club but alone this time. Apparently a single male would have a less suspicious air, he wouldn't even be noticed. They had got word the club was getting ready to welcome the Gods back tonight.
"What am I supposed to do?"
"Check the back, the exits."
"So you want me to look up and down a dark and creepy alley?"
"Yes."
"Sweet. Okay."
"It won't take you all night."
"I'm glad to hear that."
"Chris don't be a sarcastic little prick."
"And what am I supposed to do once I've reached the back of the club, alone, while the Gods are in the club?"
"Check the exit. They clearly have more than one escape route. Check. It. Out."
"Fine. What time do you want me to go? I mean I have to wash my hair."
"Christopher."
"Time?"
"While it is dark, duh."
Christopher just rolled his eyes and left Elijah's office. Elijah was a tool but he knew how to get things done but Christopher didn't know why it was always him who left to go into the wildness outside. Maybe it was because he was one of the eldest who still had the touch of youth. He went back to his room and grabbed his stuff for a shower. The bunker only had one main bathroom. Everyone had to share it. There were multiple toilets and showers which gave it a sort of school air. The walls were tiled white and the floors had slightly bigger tiles. The floor tiles had rough bumps imbedded into them so while wet your feet could grip the floor better. He got inside a shower cubical. It was quite big, a separate entrance before you walking into the actual show bit. He left his clothes and his towel on the chair that was there. The water started pouring out cold at first but soon warmed up. He knew the warmth wouldn't last long but he welcomed it for it's brief stay. He sighed while the temperature changed. The hot water only had a very brief stay, so someone must have used this shower earlier even though the floor was dry when he had come in. After he dried and changed into his darker clothes he went to the mirror that stood over the sinks. His hair was getting a bit longer but weirdly it suited him. He knew he would cut it soon. Lewis walked in holding his towel and pyjamas, seeing Christopher he wolf whistled causing Christopher to practically jump out of his skin.
"Fuck sake Lewis!"
"Where are you going looking all sexy, you smooth bastard!"
Christopher looked at his outfit in the mirror again.
"This is sexy? Wow you need to get out more mate."
"So where are you going?"
"You know where I'm going. Where do I end up nearly every fucking night?"
"Whose going with you?"
"No one."
Lewis gave a low whistle.
"That's rough."
"You think."
"Why don't I sneak out and come with you?"
"I think you're dying to get your arse kicked by Elijah."
"Hey, you just said I need to get out more."
He leaned against the doorway and swapped the hand his towel was in.
"It's not like I'm going to meet any men here, I've met them all and they don't meet with my incredibly high standards."
"So you want to do what? Bring a club guy back here?"
"Good point."
"Have your shower. I'll be back soon it's a quick in and out job."
Lewis shrugged and went to the showers while Christopher pat him on the back and left. He went to get some food before he left. He could do with killing some time.
