****Erik's POV****
The ambiance was mellow. Slow instrumental love songs paraded through the room. The table was filled with executives and CEO's and share holders. I didn't want to be here; I rather be with my girlfriend smothering her with love after that FaceTime call. Her last comment made me question my position: was she happy. The dinner went by slowly. Some had a little too much to drink while some were ready to leave. "Heya Erik, can I have a word alone?" Raymond whispered. I nodded. I followed him to the rooftop. "How's Jill doing?" He asked lighting his cigar. He offered me one but I wasn't in the mood. "She's great...what's this all about?" I asked. The views from here were amazing. "Well since my wife basically kicked her out...it's been hard on her you know. I mean the baby is here but she still misses her. She even blurted out once that you're keeping her hostage from her friends." I had to laugh.
"You know that's not true man. Things got crazy...and she needed someone that she could trust. Someone who could protect her. Her friends couldn't do that. They shut her out for being with me and that's something she won't forget. I'm the only friend and lover she's got," I said as I overlooked the view. Raymond hummed. "I'm sorry. was just concerned that's all.." I nodded.
"So what you wanted to talk about since you got me up here with this breathtaking view," I asked shoving my hands in my pocket. "We're expanding as you know from the meeting. I need you here for a few more days...just to keep an eye on things." I raised my eyebrows at him. "Wait wait wait...can't Greg or someone else do that for you? I can't stay too long. I got other business at home to attend to," I said. He shrugged and nodded. "I understand...really wish you could of stayed longer," he replied.
*****Jill's POV*****
The following day I woke up early and got organized for work. The driver drove me to Monique's restaurant. She's never here this early but I couldn't resist the cinnamon French toast garnished with strawberries and blue berries along wit seasoned bacon and eggs with chocolate croissants and coffee. After I was finished, the driver brought me to work. Today was going to be another packed day as I checked the bookings on the receptionist desk. I sat at my station scrolling through my Instagram feed as my employees rolled in one by one. At around 1:30 pm, a familiar face I hadn't seen in a while popped up and couldn't stop giving me a death stare as she sat in front one of the nail tech's. I tried not to pay her no mind but even though I was concentrating on my work, I could feel her eyes piercing through my skull. I couldn't wait to finish my client and head out for lunch. My phone started ringing.
"Hey what's up," I answered.
"Just checking up on you. You at work?" Michael asked. I looked out the window.
"Nope, going to lunch...wanna join me?" I asked giggling.
"I would love to," he replied. I gave him the directions to the place.
He was already seated when I walked in. "Sorry I'm late, you know how the traffic gets," I said kissing his cheek. He smiled at got up to pull my seat. "No worries, I just got here too," he replied. The waitress took our orders and left.
"So I had a weird encounter come by at the salon this evening," I said. Michael raised one brow. "Oh yea? Who's that?" He asked as the waiter brought some chips and poured water in the glass.
I shrugged hoping it wouldn't bring up past emotions. "Camisha..." he looked at me confused.
"Camisha? You sure?" He asked. I nodded. I would never forget that girl's face.
"Of course I'm sure. She went and got her nail's done by one of the tech's but she couldn't stop giving me the death stare like if she wanted to jump on me or something." Michael laughed.
