I saw police lights, light up the bushes in the yard. I haven't checked my phone since it was on vibrate, but when I did, I saw a few missed calls from Kelly. I dialed her number.
"Girl what the hell is going on?! Are you ok??!!" She shouted through the phone. "The security company called my phone asking if I'm ok and that the alarm went off and that cops are on the way!" I unlocked the bathroom and walked slowly to the bedroom door. "Helllloooo!!! Jill!?"
"Yeah hold Kelly" I said unlocking the door and opening it slowly. "Jill you better tell me what's going on! Did someone break in?" I walked back up the hall holding the phone to my stomach. I peeked from the corner and saw a guy with tattoos on his neck wearing a vest and blue jeans showing out his other tattoos on his arms, going down the other stairs. I heard the doorbell ring but I was too scared to go downstairs. "Yes someone broke into the house but Im too scared to go downstairs... what if they're down there Kelly...I don't know what to do." I said. The door bell rang again. "I'm looking through the cameras on the laptop...I don't see anyone" she reassured me. I walked down the stairs still observing my surroundings. I opened the door and was greeted by 2 officers. They asked me a few questions and took a look around and found the glass door that was smashed open but no intruders. My phone started ringing.
"I just got your text...I'll be right there. You ok?" Michael asked.
"Yh, the cops are here already. Just please hurry." I said hanging up. After the FBI did their investigations and collected evidence they reassured me that everything was clear and that they'll have a patrol outside. I sat in the living room that was close to the door, still holding the mace and knife in my hand, ready to strike. The rain poured heavily outside. I jumped when I got a new message.

I keyed in the code to open the gate and then opened the front door. I watched as the sports car drove up in the driveway. I ran towards the car as he was getting out. wearing nothing but basketball shorts and a sweater. We embraced each other tightly as the rain soaked us.

"I'm so sorry I didn't get your message sooner. Are you ok? What happened?" He asked all at once, rubbing my arms. I was lost for words. When I looked back at the house I saw the figure standing at the door. I gasped. Michael looked at what I was looking at. "Uh you ok? You look like you've seen a ghost" I turned to look at him still confused and frightened. "C'mon, let's go inside before we catch a cold." He said gesturing for us to go in. I was still hesitant cause it seemed like I was going crazy. I motioned for him to get some towels in the guest bathroom. He handed me one and took the other. He took off his hoodie. I couldn't help but stare at his physique. "What you looking at" he smirked while wiping his pecs. I quickly looked at something else. I towel dried my hair but I remained with my wet clothes on, too shy to undress in front of him even though he already knows what I look like naked. He walked up to me putting the towel around his neck. "So...you just gonna sit there with wet clothes on?" He asked. I shrugged. He looked around. "baby what's going on? Ever since I got here you've been acting strange." He said sitting next to me. I stared at the ornament on the table replaying the whole scene of seeing the figure standing on the balcony as well as by the door in my head. Remembering the fear. Michael snapped his fingers in front of me making me snap out of the nightmare. "Jill what happened...did something happen to you?" He asked touching my knee. I looked at him trying to find words. "Something happened at your brother's club. A shootout. I witnessed the whole thing...and then as I got home I made something to drink and when I got upstairs in my room" I paused and looked upstairs. "There was a tall figure standing at my balcony and then I heard the glass door shatter so I ran to the furthest guest bedroom. I don't know if these people saw me at the shootout and followed me...Michael I'm too scared to be in this house myself, even if there's a cop car outside." I let all that weight off of my shoulders. He looked at me with concern. "You went to see my brother huh?" He questioned. "I wanted to talk to him about...us and then the security came talking about an Ishmael." I noticed michael's eyes widened then watched another direction. "What? Do you know them?" I asked as he got up. "Pack some stuff...you can't stay in this house." I looked at him confused. "This is my best friend's house...I can't just leave it with the door busted wide open, Michael" I said. He shook his head and rubbed my shoulders. "Jill if you were followed by these men, they're most likely going to be back to make sure they clean up. I can't let nothing happen to you even though my brother dragged you into this." I shook my head and backed up from his touch. "Your brother didn't drag me into nothing. He told me to leave but I was too stubborn to stay and make sure that he was alright." I said defending Erik. He pinched the bridge of his nose. "Whatever it is...just pack some stuff quickly" I nodded and walked halfway up the stairs when I saw that same figure standing at the end of the hallway. My eyes widened. I couldn't move. It started running towards me and my body ran backwards causing me to tumble down the step. Michael ran to my aid. "Are you ok?" I shook my head. "There's something up there mike" I said trying to get up but my ankle was sprained. I saw him take out his gun from the back of his pants. And walked slowly up the stairs. When he was all the way up, he disappeared for a bit leaving me alone at the bottom of the step. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I answered it. "Hey...I'm packing some stuff to go and stay by a friend ok. This house is giving me the creeps." I answered.
" by a friend? Who?" Kelly asked. I shrugged as I saw Michael appear. "By my co worker's house." I lied.
"So...why can't you stay by the girls?" She asked.
"Kelly I'm going by a coworker ok...I'll be fine. I just really need to pack somethings quickly. I'll call you when i get there" and hung up. Michael walked down the steps putting away his gun. He held his hand out to help me up but as I put some pressure on my right ankle, it started to hurt. I cried out in pain. "It's ok...it's ok, I got you" he said lifting me up bridal style. I touched his bare chest admiring every vein. "You walk around with guns too?" I asked. He shook his head. "Not necessarily, unless I know something up" he said and pecked my lips and smiled, flashing his dimples. As we got to the door, I took a deep breath and buried myself in his chest as he opened it. "Jill, I checked. There's no one up here" he reassured me. He walked into my closet and rested me down on the stool. He looked around in admiration. "Wow...this closet is bigger than mine." He said touching my Louis Vitton bag. "I guess...I mean most of the stuff in here, Kelly gave me. Haven't even worn half of it" he turned to look at me. "We need to hurry. You got a duffel bag or something?" I nodded and pointed to the bottom drawer. I watched as he packed a few of my clothes, shoes and hygienic essentials. He put the bag handle on his shoulder and lifted me up. As we got down the stairs my phone started vibrating again. It was Erik calling. I didn't want to answer it in Michael's presence so I let it go straight to voicemail. Michael grabbed his wet sweater and we walked out to his car. He rested the bag in the trunk and we left. "We going to your place?" He shook his head. "Im taking you someplace safe. No one will know you're there.. think of it like a vacation for a few days." My eyes widened. "Wait wait wait... Michael I have work, I'm a very busy person. I can't go there!" I said leaning out of my seat to look at him.
"which do you prefer? We both end up dead...or you hiding out for a bit and live?" He questioned while driving and looking at me with a stern look. I sighed and sat back in my seat overlooking the moving vehicles on the other lane as we drove past a few. "Who are those people, Mike?" I asked quietly. His grip on the steering wheel tensed up. "People you do not need to know about. Look my intention is to keep you safe and that's it." My phone vibrated in my pocket. I looked and it was Erik again. I decided to answer it. "Hey" I blankly answered.
"Where are you?" He asked. I heard a saw machine and a few other voices in the background.
"On the highway...where are you?" I asked trying to figure out what he was doing.
"Ok good. He's gonna take you somewhere very far away from the city. You need to come up with an excuse to your friends as well cause you're gonna be there for a bit." I looked over at Michael.
"So the both of you knew about this whole getaway shit?! Erik What the fuck!" I exclaimed.
"Princess, you should of went home when I told you to, but I wasn't expecting them to go at your house neither. I can't change what happened but you need to go with my brother okay?" I agreed and hung up. I started to feel frustrated. I didn't want all my hard work go down the drain. Opening up that new salon took a lot of money and energy from me. I folded my arms, pissed at what was going on. "Where are we even going?" I asked. "It's a remote location...about 2 hours drive." I covered my face. "Michael...I've worked too hard okay...TOO HARD! What am I even going to tell me friends?! They're going to find it weird I'm taking a vacation...I don't take vacations, especially when I got a newly open salon!" I panicked.
"Just sound convincing Jill, you can tell them I took you on one." I looked at him, dumbfounded. "Just to refresh your memory sir, they don't like you, and they sure as hell warned me about the both of you...hell! Sheniqua is the only person that knows I'm fucking the both of yo-" I paused at the truth that just escaped from my mouth. Michael furrowed his eyebrows and looked at me with his eyes widened, not paying attention to the road. "Jesus! Michael! Eyes on the roa-" he cut me off.
"What the fuck! You're fucking my brother?!"  He shouted. I looked out the window. "That's why you were at the club that night huh? To get your pussy wet huh?!" He yelled.
"So what!? You ain't my mother fucking man Michael," I said. He gave an evil chuckle. "I should've known you would. I am so stupid to even make love to you that night." He said laughing. "For a minute, you had me thinking you were different Jill... but you're just like the rest of those bitches I been with." I looked at him while he laughed. "First of all, I ain't yo bitch or your girlfriend, so all that shit you said doesn't correspond to me. You don't take care of me, pay my damn bills or take me shopping...so for you to say I'm just like the bitches you were with is an overstatement...boy you wish you had an independent and successful woman like me." I retorted. He shook his head. "Trust me, I don't want you anymore. You're my brother's problem." He chuckled while taking the lane for the exit. I could see the disappointment on his face. I felt bad. The ride was quiet and awkward. After 2 and a half hours of driving, we finally came to a stop at a lake. He got out the car and so did I. "Michael please tell me where are we even going. It's literally 2:45 am, I'm wet, cold and tired" I whined as he took out my duffel bag from the trunk. He didn't say a word to me. I followed him onto the dock and into a luxurious yacht that had a triple deck.

He gave the captain a hand signal to start the boat. I followed him inside as he rested my duffel on the couch. The interior design was beautiful. As the boat left the dock, I went up to the second level and found the bar. I asked for a mojito, my signature drink. I walked out on the deck allowing the breeze to swiftly flow through my hair. Michael stood next to me. "Any man is lucky enough to have you...I was just pissed earlier-" I cut him off. "I made love to you first." I said overlooking the waves the boat made in the water. His back leaned on the railing. "Why didn't you call me? Was I not good enough for you that night?" He asked with a pitiful sigh. I shook my head and grabbed his hand. "It's not you...it's me. I just wanted to try something different. I know he's your brother and I don't understand why I did it, but it's the choice I made. I'm sorry if I made you feel like we had something." I said. He caressed my cheek and pulled me into a soft kiss.

That kiss told a thousand stories. I felt every emotion. We looked deeply into each others eyes, almost like a spell was brought upon us. Suddenly his phone rang. He went inside to answer it. In the distance, I saw this beautiful wooden house illuminating on the waterfront
