Author's POV
A few more days had passed and yoongi and hoseok had almost lost their connection with the NamMin duo. Taehyung is still hesitating to ask jungkook out and doesn't really know if he has a mate or not. Although the youngest isn't marked and doesn't get heats, taehyung was still confused specially with the phone calls the younger kept getting.
But he still had a bit of hope. So, he decided to show small actions until jungkook finally figures out. Even if he does have a mate, taehyung would still get a chance to treat his crush. Not the best plan but it made sense to taehyung.
"Hyung?" Jungkook's voice broke his trance. "Yeah?" He asked. "You were spacing out again." The youngest giggled. "Anyways I finally got that job!!" He almost squealed.
"The one at the pharmacy? Wouldn't that be too late?" Tae asked. Jungkook had applied for the night shift which meant he had to work from 8pm to about 12pm.
"Yeah it is... But I really needed it so I'm happy that I got it!" He said. But taehyung still had a bad feeling. "where is this pharmacy again?" He asked.
"It's a bit far from here. It should take me about 30 minutes to walk. I dunno how many kilometres tho." The younger said, shrugging as if it wasn't a big deal.
"I'm not letting you walk for 30 minutes everyday at midnight and that too alone!" Tae blurted out.
"Hyung, it's the only job that is accepting omegas. Plus, I'll need the money for the next semister. The scholarship only lasts for this one." Jungkook said, seriously.
"Then ask your parents for money. I bet they won't like the idea of you going out at midnight." Tae reasoned.
Jungkook froze at that. He looked down at his lap before speaking in a small voice. "My parents left when my rank was announced."
Taehyung's eyes widdened in realisation. "I'm so sorry jungkook, I didn't knew..." He said softly, rubbing kook's shoulder.
"It's ok... But yeah, I have to take the job." Jungkook said.
"I can give you a ride." Tae piped in.
"Hyung, it's at 12 in the night. And you'll have classes."
"And you'll have those too."
"I'll manage."
"How?!"
"Well, I don't know yet but I'll have to do it anyways!" Jungkook finally deadpanned.
Taehyung sighed. "Just stay safe, yeah?" He asked, making the younger nod.
Jungkook's phone buzzed suddenly, making him jump in surprise. He took it out of his pocket and read the caller ID. "Sorry hyung, I have to take this." He said, not even waiting for a response and moving to the living room.
But taehyung could still hear the conversation.
"Hey hyung! I have something to tell you!!" Jungkook said excitedly into the phone. But soon his face dropped. "S-sorry alpha... Yeah.... Y-yeah I got a j-job... S-sorry... No, I d-didnt... Yeah, s-sorry, bye." Jungkook sighed as he ended the call.
Taehyung couldn't hear what the person on the other side said but he knew they couldn't have said anything good, judging from Jungkook's change in tone.
"Hey, everything alright?" He asked the younger. "You seem very stressed whenever this person calls you."
"Y-yeah, he's just someone back from home." Jungkook said with a faint smile. Taehyung nodded, not quite buying it but he still decided to leave the topic for now.
"If you say so." The beta said. "Anyways, wanna go out for a coffee today?" He added.
"Sure." Jungkook said, smilling. Taehyung usually took him out for small treats here and there so it wasn't anything new to him.
"But I gotta study right now so shoo." He said, laughing and waving taehyung off.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm leaving anyways." Taehyung said, rolling his eyes. "I'll be back late by the way. Don't wait for me and have dinner." He added.
Jungkook nodded. He felt as if tae was always too nice to him and that was one of the reasons why he got comfortable around him.
The beta never pushed any answers out of jungkook. He always respected the younger's personal space. He tried his best to make him comfortable and was more over very protective of him although they had met only a month earlier.
To put it simply, in jungkook's eyes, Taehyung was everything Siwoo could never be.
Who was SiWoo? He was the person who called jungkook earlier. Why can't he run away? That's a long story for later.
Jungkook was taken out of his trance once he heard the front door close, meaning taehyung had already left.
He sighed as he diverted his attention back to his books. "I wish jin hyung was here." He said to himself.

A/n this is short cause exams but I'll make up to you guys with the next update. Also, what are your opinions on Siwoo? Even though I haven't formally introduced him, what do you think his role will be?
