~ flashbacks ~

here i was, the final set of the junior inter high tournament, whoever won this set would be the number 1 team of our prefecture, even if my team lost now we could still go to nationals because they needed the top 2 teams to compete, but we still wanted to be number 1

our teams setter called out to me and the tossed the ball high into the air

i quickly ran and spiked it down but as i came back down to the court my knee buckled and then pain shot through my leg

i couldn't move and as the ref stopped the match and people came to help me, i couldn't even hear what they were saying and soon enough i couldn't even see them

as my eyes opened i wasn't even in the place i needed to be

the court, quickly (y/n) get back to the court

but i couldn't every time i would try and move i could only feel pain

i was helpless, just sitting there not being able to do anything whilst my team was on the court fighting for the win

after the doctor had come to check up on me i cried and cried nothing could've ever hurt me more than what the doctor had told me, the words just replayed in my mind

"so i'm extremely sorry but you've broken your knee, after a few weeks of complete rest we will start rehab, but it will take at least 2 months for the knee to heal" but what he said next, broke me

" even though the knee will heal within 2 months, you can't put any pressure on it for at least 4 months after that, that means for the next 7 moths you are on a strict sports ban, you can't play for at least 6 months and then after that you will be able to start off slowly, you cant train in this time period either"

he just left the room after that

i can't play in nationals, my team will go without me,

i let them down, all of them...

i was sat by the wall of the gym, tears flowing out of my eyes, that memory had always haunted me

but i won't let that go on any longer

c'mon bitch pick yourself up, look at how far you've come, you led your team to nationals and now you're the youngest player on the olympic team so whatever you're feeling right now suck it up, clean this gym and go back to the room before anyone notices you are missing

so i just put the final ball in the cart and switched the lights off, exiting the gym i checked the time

5:26 am

that's great, i can still get some sleep in

quickly i made my way back into the room, not making any noise and climbed into my futon, falling asleep immediately

the girls team were now all awake except (y/n) who was still fast asleep

all the girls were sitting on the floor next to her

sana looked worried "guys, is she okay? i don't know if you've noticed but look at her arms, there are bruises everywhere"

the oldest in the team tried to calm down the youngest " don't worry sana i'm sure she'll be fine, but until we know that for sure i want you all to keep an extra eye on her, you all know how stressed she gets whenever we have something big comping up so try and not stress her out, but the same goes for you all, make sure you take care of yourselves"
