Both males went home for the day as the bell piercingly rang through the hallways and are now in their respective houses, now bidding each other goodbyes before coming in their sweet abode.
Soobin entered their house with a giant smile on his face, evidently showing his elated feeling. His mom, who was in the kitchen, saw her wonderful son with a big, bunny smile, making her do the same and walked over to him and welcome his son home.
"Welcome home, dear! Seems like something good happened, hm?" She hugged Soobin, who gladly reciprocated the gesture back.
"Eh, it's nothing really," he chuckles. "I just had a good time with a friend of mine," he adjusted the straps of his bag and beamed at his mother, telling only a brief story of what happened to him this afternoon. He's afraid that his mom is going to do that again.
Hyerim smiled as he rubbed both arms of the taller with lips tightly pursed. She looked at him directly, "I'm sorry, baby. I'm sorry that I never raised you up properly and just followed your dad's commands. I-i was scared, honey. If I don't follow him, he'll beat not only me, but also you. And-and I'm afraid that I'll get you hurt and I didn't realize that y-you're already hurting so much an—"
"Mom," Soobin sternly said despite having a wavering voice. "It's okay. Besides, I'm used to it now. All of his sick and sharp words and actions towards me doesn't affect me anymore so don't worry, okay? There's nothing we can do about it anyway." He lied through his teeth just to assure his mother that it'll be alright. She shook her head and held his bruised hand.
"He did this to you didn't he? I'm so sorry, baby. I really am," her crystalline tears rolled down her face as she felt so much emotions at once, feeling overwhelmed. Soobin sighed and embraced his shaking mother, running a hand through her back to soothe and console her.
If only she didn't come to that particular place in a specific, cold night, this wouldn't have happened to her and her son.
—
It was a cold, chilly night outside. Stars were already present in the vast, obsidian sky despite the night, still young. Hyerim just got fired for the company is facing a near bankruptcy crisis, resulting in the reduce amount of employees needed. Unfortunately, she was one of the employees that got dismissed.
Wanting to distract and entertain herself, she went to a nearby club, neon lights welcoming her in. She was still in her work clothes; clicking black heels, a button-up blouse tucked in her pencil cut skirt. It didn't bother her though and proceeded to enter the noisy place.
The smell of alcohol welcomed her, her vision flashed with neon lights. She saw some of them making out passionately on one of the couches, despite it being a public place. She made her way through the sea of people, sweat trickling down their bodies, to the bartenders.
She takes a seat in front of the bar island, letting her arms rest on it. She calls for a bartender and orders a strong drink. The one who took the order looks evidently concerned but complied with it anyway.
A man who looks just as horrible as her comes in her peripheral point of view. She glanced at the poor guy in a messed up collared shirt, its tie hanging loose around his neck and his hair in a chaos.
She thought that he still looked handsome despite his wrecked-up state; those beautifully pained eyes to his button shaped nose tinted in red down to his bunny-like, chapped lips. It all looks like god had perfectly formulated on how he created this man. She snapped out of it as the bartender handed over her drinks. Hyerim thanked him with a shallow bow.
She proceeded to drink the night away and gulped all the contents like there's no tomorrow.
But little did she know that her peaceful alone time would be shattered in just mere seconds.
—
Hyerim is now on her last two drinks, her head completely flat against the bar island, hiding her completely flushed face with her hand still loosely holding her drink. She lifts her head up, her hair sticking into various places, and tries to drink but a hand stops her.
She whined and glared at the guy, who was just beside her earlier, now, looking completely different. He has a specific glint in his eyes, a want that he needs to satisfy himself. Hyerim pointed at him in a silly manner and slurred her words out.
"Oh, look! It's that handsome, bunny man from earlier! Hehe, why did you look so down? Did things go downhill like mine did? Hahaha!"
"What's your name? You look very pretty," the ominous man smiled, revealing his deep dimples, trying to look friendly.
"Oh, me? My name's Hyerim! What's yours?" She put out her hand out into a handshake which the man shook back.
"Soojun. Choi Soojun."
"That's a nice name! Hehe. Oh, wait. I don't feel so well. I'll go to the bathrooms real quick," she stood up, smiled at Soojun and stumbled while walking to the bathroom.
"I'll accompany you on your way there. You might trip and fall," Soojun offers, having a plan in mind, smirking to himself.
Hyerim being out of her mind because of the alcohol, she agreed and went with Soojun to the bathroom. The rest that happened are history's traumatic moments, haunting the current Hyerim until now.
Hyerim still regrets and shames her own actions back to that specific moment, but she never once regretted having Soobin as her precious son.
