FROM AN OUTSIDERS perspective, it was more than simple to judge Adelaide based on the short few months that she had been around these people. By no means was she innocent but there was so much to the story than met the eye. There comes a time where only the smallest of actions can deliberate whether someone was good or evil because in retrospect these are on polar opposite sides of a wide spectrum. But in war, you are on one side or the other because even in the middle ground you are an enabler of those that are deemed 'evil'. For the children that had been packed up and offered upon the battlefront like pawns for the men and women who started this. It wasn't fair. All of their fates had been settled just because of their family name. Sure, some escaped but not all of them did. And it is important to hold them accountable but these children had been conditioned from a young age and without ever being exposed to the consequences of their actions, there is no wonder that none of them change.

But you can look at this group of deluded children and separate them even further. The lost causes and the ones who partake due to fear. In the former, we see people like Avery, Yaxley, Mulciber, Travers, Snape, Regulus, Wilkes, Crouch, etc. They had chosen that life and deserved no remorse for that. But then there was the latter, like Ada and Rabastan. A life forced upon with what seemed to be no escape. Unlike some, they weren't lucky enough to leave like others. That doesn't mean they are by any means excused but is it fair to hold these type of children to the same amount of shame and disgust? When we look at both Adelaide and Rabastan, we notice the vast difference in their actions compared to their friends. Where some like Yaxley or Avery had defiled, tortured, hexed, someone - Rabastan had never openly opposed a liking for muggleborns - he was just guilty by association. So, where do we cross the line? A claim could be made that they are enablers. But what about the thousands of other wizarding folks that sit idly by and do not openly oppose Voldemort or even Grindelwald's teachings. You would possibly argue that they were trying to protect themselves. Isn't that what Rabastan or Adelaide is doing? Not only would they put themselves in harm's way from Voldemort and his followers but they are turning their back on their family and everything they know. These children don't often have another friend that would help them out. People are too often spooked by the family names that they're attached to.

It's hard to compare them to someone like Eleanor or Sirius. The two had always been the outcasts of the family. From the friends they made to their outspoken manners, each day it becomes harder for them to reject the life set out for them. Like a void sucking them in, the days seemed to darken and they accept their fate. Compared to Rabastan, Adelaide still had so much more opportunity to get out but she just didn't realise. Sometimes, we are blinded by our own fear of the future that it gets here before we can run.
