"It is Toruk," said Tsu'tey. Jake had told you about your encounter with the ikran. "Last shadow."
"Because it's the last you see," you replied and he smiled. He told you the story of Toruk makto. About how it has only happened five times since the First Songs. His eyes were intensely focused but not on anything specific. You realized you wanted to stay, leave behind your human body. You wanted to be Na'vi, to be part of the people.
Then the three months ended. You and Jake bought time, but not much. In the end, you had to reveal your true purpose, would they still trust you?
It was your's and Jake's ceremony. Neytiri was painting Jake and Tsu'tey painted you. He spoke softly and reassuringly. Every person is born twice; the second time is then you earn your place among The People forever.
You stood in front of Eytukan who said to Jake, "You are now a son of the Omaticaya," he turned to you, "and you are now a daughter of the Omaticaya. You are both part of The People."
He placed one hand on you and one on Jake. Jake put his hand on your shoulder and you did the same. Neytiri put hers hands on Jake and Tsu'tey put his on yours. Mo'at was next and then the rest of the Omaticaya. Tsu'tey smiled at you proudly.
Later on you noticed Neytiri and Jake run off. You informed Tsu'tey and he simply took your hand and did the same. He took you to the tree of voices. You looked around but no one was there. He showed you how to listen and your eyes widen when you hear singing and laughter.
He smiled at your reaction. "You are Omaticaya now," he said. Then he looked away. "And you may choose a man."
"You have already chosen a woman?" you asked. He stayed quiet and then cupped your cheek.
"I have," he said, softly. "Now she must choose me." he leaned in and kissed you, ever so gently. Then you responded and kissed him harder. He showed you his queue and you took out yours. You were about to form tsaheylu when you remembered that he was still betrothed. You didn't want to hurt her. Neytiri was loyal, right?
"Neytiri," you whispered. He was completely taken aback, as if remembering all his responsibilities. "We should go back." He didn't move at first but then nodded. You walked back to Home Tree in silence.
You woke up in your link unit. Norm congratulated you and so did Trudy. You smiled but not as brightly as you used to, which Norm noticed. He took your arm and led you to a little corner.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"Nothing," you lied. "Just tired." you smiled again.
He frowned. "I know you. You're not fine. What's wrong?"
"I feel bad," you lied again. "We have to tell them to move. This whole time we built their trust for us to have to tear it all down."
He nodded and hugged you. "It's going to be fine. Don't worry."
You just sat there, hugging him until you felt hungry and went to eat the horrible food. Your whole life felt like a lie.
