18: Fallen

Everything had to be planned. Parker would stay with the links, Trudy would fly, and Norm would be on foot. You and Jake flew with the rest of the people flying ikrans. Jake had a gun in hand but you opted for the bow and arrows, it felt more natural.

You waited patiently and when they appeared Jake said, "Brother I'm gonna punch a hole, you follow me through with Y/N." You both nodded.

You yelled and took down the aircrafts, occasionally shooting an arrow to kill a driver. When the initial shock was over the aircrafts took out their guns and started shooting back. You continued for some time then heard through the radio,

"Jake, we're falling back! We're being hammered!" it was Norm.

"Copy, get out of there," answered Jake.Then you noticed there was an aircraft specifically targeting him. Trudy must've noticed too because she fired at him, you decided to leave it up to her.

You caught sight of Neytiri flying down into the trees and you must've seen wrong, Seze looked hurt.

You jumped onto an aircraft with Tsu'tey and fearlessly threw off RDA soldiers. All was well but then you didn't notice one who hadn't died. He shot Tsu'tey a couple of times and you once before you shot an arrow through his heart. You turned around but Tsu'tey had already fallen. You jumped onto your ikran and followed him down, catching him.

You landed. He was still alive but you knew he was fatally wounded. "Tsu'tey," you choked out, your vision blurry with tears.

"Y/N," he reached up for your face. Jake appeared next to you and Tsu'tey looked at him. "I will be remembered, I fought with Toruk Makto. We are brothers. And you were my last shadow." Jake was quiet and Tsu'tey looked at you. "I love you." his hands fell and his eyes were lifeless. 

This man was someone you loved. Someone you spent months learning and exploring with. You cried out and Jake put his hand on your shoulder.

Then you were distracted by an aircraft exploding above you. You recognized it as Trudy's. She, too, has fallen.

Jake flew away. You did too soon after, leaving Tsu'tey. You started panting, your blood boiling with rage. You found Neytiri and heard her say that the soldiers were close and there were many. Jake warned her not to attack but she held her bow tightly and you did the same. She caught your eye and you nodded. You pulled back the arrow, ready to shoot, when you heard rumbling.

Hammerheads came out of nowhere and you gasped. Eywa had listened to Jake. A Thanator approached Neytiri and kneeled for her to get on. You smiled wickedly. This fight was not over.
