The People would always say that Eywa will provide. Now, with no home, no hope, there was only one place they could go. The Tree of souls.
You landed somewhere nearby and Norm left his avatar to let Jake in. "Link's running," he said. "What's the plan here, Jake?"
"There's no plan," answered Jake. You and Norm shared a look.
"Tsu'tey is Olo'eyktan now," explained Norm.
"He's not gonna let you anywhere near," you added.
Jake laid down in the link. "I gotta try," he said simply. In he went, waking up God knows where.
You wanted to go in as well, but, again, your avatar could be anywhere.
You sat down, feeling drained. "So... what's he gonna do?" asked Parker.
You looked up at him. "I'm not sure. He has to do something to gain back the respect we lost. We're outcasts, betrayers, aliens."
"To simply face them, he has to bring it to a whole new level," added Norm.
"So what happened with Quaritch exactly?" you asked. Norm sat down next to you, ready to listen.
"Well," he began. "He wanted to attack, laid it out real pretty, said it would be humane. Kind of. But I said no, you lunatics got to me. Then he took out a gun, said I'd gone soft, and here we are."
"I'm glad," you said. He looked confused. "That you stood up for them." He nodded.
"Not something I'm used to doing." He chuckled.
"Well it was the right thing to do," said Norm. "And hopefully we have enough to kick them out."
"We'll be alright," said Trudy. "Jake will figure something out." You all nodded.
"How are we going to pass the time?" you asked. There wasn't much to do. Nobody said anything but then Norm took out your portfolio, the one with all the drawings of people. He even had the paper. You smiled. "I'm never going to forget any of you. Might as well draw you."
You started with Grace. She was sleeping, and even then you could feel her sarcastic attitude. Her short, curly hair still had volume and held a bloodied hand to her cheek. You almost wished she had her eyes opened but something about the way she looked let you know that this was how you wanted to remember her. Even at her worst, she was one of the best.
Then you turned to Trudy. You wanted to draw her smiling. Despite being rebellious and strong-minded she was kind. You drew her signature ponytail and bangs.
You looked at Parker. He laughed, "No." You sat in front of him. "No." you began drawing. "Y/N, this is-"
"Hush unless you want me to mess up," you replied. Your idea of Parker had completely changed. He used to be the greedy, non-understanding boss. Now he was your ally and perhaps friend. He was sarcastically funny but he wasn't really friendly or inviting. You probably would have nothing to do with him if it wasn't for his recent acts.
You finished. And Jake appeared. He told you how he became Toruk macto and you just laughed in disbelief. Turns out The People had saved your avatar so when Jake took Grace you went in.
You opened your eyes. Jake had reached the Tree of Souls and was placing her on to a ledge under the Tree. Her avatar body was brought as well and placed next her. You heard her say she needed to take some samples and you smiled sadly.
"The Great Mother may choose to save all that she is in this body," said Mo'at, referring to the avatar body.
"Is that possible?" asked Jake
"Jake, she's saying it is." you were nervous and therefore irritable.
"She must pass through the eye of Eywa and return," continued Mo'at. "But Jakesully, Y/N, she is very weak." You nodded slowly.
"Hang on Grace," Jake said. "They're gonna fix you up."
