I had seen her running away with Harley seconds before I was whacked with an old car wrench. My shoulder hurt like crazy but I was too worried about Laivey to try and fight back. I stuck a couple of rockets on Jokers jacket and watched as he flew through the air.
When I came to the spot I saw the two disappear I saw them walking away and down by Gothams China town. They sat in the back and I placed my hand against the window my echo sensors catching up on thier conversation.
"No that can't be right it just happened a day ago." Laivey said her face was full of shock but I couldn't see Harleys.
"All I'm saying sugar is Bud and Lou always know. Every time I was they would stick there noses there until I lost it then they would whine when they tried the next time. ANd let me tell you they NEVER have been wrong."
What in the world were they talking about?
"But, but...how am I going to...?" Laiveys voice drops off and she is now looking at her bowl.
Harley comes around to her and lays a slender arm around her shoulder.
"It's okay hon, but somehow we have to get this to your boy but we can't tell puddin he'll use it against red."
My mind races what, what could be used against me other than her.
I see Laivey nod and wipe tears from her eyes. "I don't even know how to find him." She says laying her head against Harley.
"It's okay, he will find you eventually until then we have to keep you safe and taken care of."
I'm about to take my hand away convinced that Harley would keep her safe even against Joker. Harley had a kind heart towards women and wouldn't hurt Laivey.
As I pull my hand away and in the crackle of disconnecting static I hear the word Baby come from Laivey.
Immediatly I press my hand back and look in at her. Her hand is pressed against her stomach and she keeps whispering about a baby.
My heart is slammed against my rib and I feel myself sink to the pavement. There couldn't be a baby pulled into this mess. I look back at Laivey and imagine her holding a child.
"I'll be back when It's safe for you." I say and turn away.
