As soon as the window slams down Jason has his mask on and blows a kiss at me. I tear myself away at the sound of gunshots and run up the fire escape.
Just as said the motorcycle sits on the edge of the roof and my heart jumps at the sight of a clown masked man staring over the edge.
With out thinking I run behind him and push him over. His scream rings in my ears and his body hits the concrete below with a sick thud. My mind races as I go over towards the bike, there are so many gadgets and codes set over the handles and I can't remember what button he said to hit and run.
Blue or green, blue or green.
I hit both and run as fast as I can across the roof and jump over the edge rolling onto the next building top. The gravel laced roof bites into my skin and the winter chill has started to seep through my thin clothes. I
don't stop running though I move from roof to the next until I'm about ten buildings away. I look back and see a few more clowns up on the roof I duck down behind a ventilation shaft.
I'm blinded by an explosion and I feel myself rocked back from the blast. I try to focus on the roof and my vision swims. I can see the remnants of the bike but all the clowns have been knocked of the roof that is now on fire with part of it caving in. I can see the residents streaming out the front doors and down their own fire escapes.
I'm about to turn and start running again when I see Jason fly out of a window. He hits the side of another building and slide down it. He looks around and then runs in the other direction of me. Once he's out of sight I turn around.
The blade of a knife is cold against my throat. "Hello again dear." Harley stands in front of me dressed in a armored nurses uniform. "I don't exactly appreciate you trying to blow up my pudding but... you have guts kid." She moves the knife away and grabs my hand.
"Come on now don't want you getting caught by the goons nor do I want you to die of the cold." I stare at her in disbelief.
"Why do you keep helping me?" I ask she laughs sliding down a drain pipe. when I meet her on the ground she shrugs looking around the corner.
"We are both trying to protect the men we love and we are just sucked into thier danger. I am helping you because I don't want you to get hurt."
Her honesty surprises me as she drags me across the street. "Here is one of my little hideaways that I keep for long nights like this."
She shoves me in front of her and closes a hatch behind her. "Don't worry about Bud or Lou they won't bite unless I tell them. "Bud and Lou?" She laughs the to beings I love most in the world next to Joker.
As if on cue two Hyenas slink out from the shadows and rub up against her. "Oh my babies how are you?" She hugs them close and I stand back in the corner. "Give me a minute hon." I watch her disappear around the corner and take a moment to look around the hidden room.
It's not much just some furniture a t.v. and a drink bar. "Okay throw these on then we can go." She throws a pair of clothes at me and I catch them. "Go where?" I ask as I pull on the sweatpants and long sleeve t. "Well I don't know about you but I am starving."
I stand up straight and the hyenas wind around my legs. "Um Harley?" She looks over as one sticks it's nose under my shirt and presses it against my stomach. "Bud Lou off."
She walks around them and takes my hands. "Lets go some place we can talk."
Turns out place to talk for Harley is a crowed ramen restaurant meant to look like a Chinese place. As soon as we sit down I'm digging in suddenly starving. Harley eats her bowl in silence and keeps looking at me.
"Why do you keep looking at me like that." I ask setting my bowl aside and taking a drink of water.
she sighs and shakes her head. "Honey did you know your pregnant?"
My breath hitches and my mouth drops open.
"What?"
