This was it. Dream was 10 years old, falling from the treehouse, contagious laughter erupting from his lips. George sat on the edge Nick had just pushed Dream from watching as the boy landed on the soft grass.
He leaned over looking down at Dream when he felt a hand on his back and then he was falling too. "NICK!" He cried as he fell through the crisp summer air. He landed in Dream's arms, a smile forming on his lips.

"Clay? You caught me?"
"Of course Georgie, I've always got you, I promise." he smiled back as he set the younger boy down on the grass. They looked over to see Nick had climbed down to them, a grin on his face. The three boys laid down on the grass, looking up at the clouds.
All was well.
But that was then.

----

"CLAY, DON'T DO IT! GET ON THE OTHER SIDE NOW!" George was screaming, tears streaming down his cheeks. He ran through the doors, Sapnap close behind him.
There was a glass barrier around the edge of the balcony on the 47th floor of the building. And Dream was on the other side of it. Ready to jump.

He turned around, holding onto the edge of the barrier with both hands, a soft smile on his face as he saw George and Nick run through the doors.
His mind flashed back to that summers day almost 15 years ago when they were 10 years old in the treehouse.
He remembered Nick pushing him off the edge and then pushing George. He remembered catching George before he hit the ground. And promising to always be there for him.
But he hadn't been.

He was snapped back to reality as George came closer to him. His eyes red and puffy, tears running down his face. His whole body shaking.
"Clay, please. Come home."
Dream smiled at him, speaking softly.
"But it was not your fault, but mine."
"Clay it wasn't your fault, please just come back and we can talk!" George cried, desperate to get Dream to think about what he was doing.
"And it was your heart on the line." Dream spoke again.
He turned his body around again facing out into the night, still holding the edge of the barrier.
George ran towards him as fast as he could, yelling his name.
Dream turned just his head to face George and spoke again.
"I really fucked it up this time, didn't I George?"
"NO! CLAY!"

With one hand, then the other, he let go and stepped off the side of the ledge just as George reached it.
George turned around and looked at Nick who was still standing in the doorway, unable to move.
And then he jumped over the edge.
"GEORGE!"

George's body rushed through the cold air as he fell, faster and faster. Suddenly he felt a pressure around his body. It took him a moment to realise he had fallen into Dream's arms.
He realised he must have been falling much faster than Dream had been.
His eyes met Dream's, which were filled with tears and then everything went black.
