Warning:  He is out of character in this.  I tried to write him in character but I didn't really know how to make it work either.  I also just know this boy has a soft side so here it is.

The topic of marriage was brought up all the time. He had bluntly brought up the fact that it would be smartest for the two of you to get married, but you just shook your head and told him he needed to find a better way to ask you. Now, you did want to marry him, but you wanted him to actually mean it was he asked you and when you did finally get married.

You wanted a life with him, more than anything but you didn't want to live that life alone either. You wanted to help him rebuild the Uchiha clan, but doing it alone was something that had scared you much more than you had wanted to admit.

You were currently sitting by the fire working on the meal that you and Sasuke were going to need. You were quiet again, choosing to remain as silent as Sasuke was, the only noise between the top of you being the crackling of the fire and then soft sizzling of the fish Sasuke had caught for the two of you. You glanced over after a moment, watching him as he wrote his report for the Hokage.

"I don't want to marry you if I have to spend the rest of my life alone in the village or waiting for you to come home when you never will." Sasuke's writing stopped as you spoke, though his eyes never lifted to look at you, though you knew you had his attention. "I made you a promise that I would never leave you, and I won't. But it also means that I don't even want to leave your side, Sasuke. I won't raise our children alone if that's what marrying you means."

He didn't say anything, but his eyes were lifted to meet your own as he looked at you, his eyebrows moving together as he looked at you. You could see the gears of his mind moving and working, he was thinking hard about what you just posed to him. He hadn't realized why you had continuously said 'no' to him suggesting marriage. He hadn't meant to cause you hardship over all of what he suggested.

"That's certainly something to think about." Was his only simple reply. You nodded and then handed him his fish and grabbed yours, taking a bite of it quietly. It didn't take you long to eat yours before you stood up and grabbed a few things that you needed to go and do some training.

You walked over to Sasuke, kneeling beside him for a moment and placing a gentle kiss on the center of his forehead softly. You stroked the soft hair there for a small moment and gave him a soft smile, standing back up.

"I'll be back in an hour or two. If you need to, use the call and I'll be back as soon as I can." You said softly, hoisting the bag onto your shoulder, knowing you had managed to fluster the boy thanks to your small shows of affection. You walked in the opposite direction, towards the nearby river, before turning back to him for a moment. "Try to stay out of trouble Sasuke, I don't think you need me to save your ass again."

You disappeared through the trees, leaving Sasuke behind to think and to set up what he was planning to do when you had finally gone off to train. He looked around and then jumped into action to prepare everything

His P.O.V.

I can't believe I let this woman have such a hold over me. I'm even going through the whole thing to try and be romantic to her and take care of her. I don't want her to live alone, but neither of us wanted to live back in the village. I couldn't deny that I loved her though, she was the only one who didn't look at me like I was weak for losing everything, not even when she met. She had always intrigued me, and it was hell living without her those years when I was with Orochimaru. Still, she took me back as if nothing had happened, she had waited for me to come back to her, had waited for me and then when I finally came back, she refused the leave, no matter how much I begged.

I don't know why I agreed to let her come along on such a dangerous mission, but I couldn't tell her no and make her stay behind. Though I have no doubt that she would have, probably even risking becoming a Missing Nin just to follow me around the country.

I shook my head, fighting away the smile that threatened to split my face. She truly reminded me of my mother in many ways, though she was also similar to Itachi in many ways. I couldn't pick out anything specific other than simply the way she should be how she loved me.

I looked around our little camp and then pulled out the ring I had purchased for her in the last village we had walked through. I gazed at it slowly as I thought about her words, saying that she wouldn't marry me unless I agreed to be there with her as much as I could.

There was no one else that I could think of marrying and rebuilding with, no one else I wanted to share that part of my life with. She got to see sides of me that no one else ever got to see, but still she never ran away and she was never afraid of me. I was all too aware that I didn't deserve someone as good as she was, but still she was the only one who wanted to stay by my side, how could I leave her?

I smiled softly as I looked at the ring and then pulled out the one picture that I had let someone from another village take of us. Her bright smile lit up the smile photograph, her arms slung around my waist in a show of affection that we rarely have. I remember taking that picture because she was so happy to have it taken that I was even cracking my own smile for the picture. I loved her more than anything else in this world.

I knew the day that she followed me out the village that she was going to follow me wherever I went, that I would follow her wherever she went. I put the picture away and then hummed as I looked around our little camp, smiling softly at how clean it could possibly get even though it was an outdoor one that exposed us. I'd find her a cave for tomorrow's camp so that there was privacy and better cover.

I heard the trees begin to rustle and Y/N walked through the underbrush of the trees slowly. Her hair had little droplets of water from her hair, indicating that she had gone to bathe in the river. I frowned slightly, since I wasn't there to warm the water, she had taken a cold bath.

"You should've come to get me to heat your water." I commented as she shrugged and smiled at me simply.

"I'll be fine, the water really wasn't all that cold since it's warm around here." She said, sitting back down on her side of the fire as I nodded slowly.

"If you do end up getting sick, don't say I didn't warn you." I said softly, playing at the ring in my pocket before I stood up and began walking over to her slowly. "But I have a question for you."

"Oh yeah? What's the question?" She asked, looking up at me, making me give her a small rare smile. I knelt down next to her, taking her hand slowly.

"Y/N, I know you don't want to do anything alone and I promise that this time I'm not going to make you do it alone. I can't promise that you'll do none of it alone, but I will be there as much as I can and whenever you need me I'll be there." I said softly, taking her hand lightly, stroking the small scars that littered her skin. "I know I don't say it often and I know that words aren't really my things, but I love you. I love you more than anything in this world and I cannot imagine life without you by my side or not starting my family with you."

She looked at me slowly, furrowing her brows as she looked at me. I carefully lifted the ring, watching her eyes widen in shock. She looked up at me slowly. Emotions swimming in her eyes as she looked at me. Her hand came up slowly, running her fingers through my hair softly as she took a moment to process.

"Say the words, you have to ask or it doesn't count." She whispered, though I could tell that she was fighting a few tears away from her eyes.

"Y/N, marry me." I said softly, and the tears slowly began to fall. She nodded and I knew that she couldn't form words anymore. She slowly lifted her hand and I slipped the ring on her finger slowly, carefully taking her hand and then placing a soft kiss on her fingers lightly. "Thank you, Y/N, thank you."

She smiled softly, wrapping her arms around my neck slowly and I wrapped my arm around her waist. I pulled her close and buried my face in her neck as I held her. She was the only one that mattered anything to me and nothing was going to change how much I loved her.

"Thank you, Y/N. Thank you for giving me hope again." I whispered softly into her hair, holding her closely.
