Today is the day before my 18th birthday. Me and some of my friends were going to have a party back at my place so, it was my job to get the snacks. When I say friends, I really mean a group of four people and myself. Popular, I know right.

I decided to head out to the grocery store to see what I could pick up. So, I dressed myself into my favourite black biker jeans with a simple black t-shirt. To top off the look I added my black leather jacket and boots.
I walked over to the shop, only taking five minutes from my place.

After entering the shop, I wondered through the isles looking for, not only snacks for my party, but some groceries for the week ahead.

Whilst picking up some bananas I could feel someone glaring at the back of my head. I, like anyone, turned around to catch the creep who couldn't keep their eyes off of me. But to my surprise, no one was there.

As I carried on with my shopping, I could feel it again. Someone was definitely looking at me!

Pretending like I hadn't notice, I lift my head to 'look for some other fruits'.

That's when I saw him. The creep staring at me!

A taller, lean man stood behind me further down the aisle. His black hood was placed over his face, making it almost impossible for me to catch his eyes.

Curiously, I decided to go over to the man and ask him why he kept looking at me. After all, it's sketchy as hell.
However, as soon as I shifted on my heels to head over, I heard a loud bang followed by a ferocious number of screams.
The same banging sound was heard multiple times again after that. Gun shots.

Everyone in the store started running in the opposite direction. Knocking each other over and trampling over anyone that fell.
There are more casualties from the stampede of scared civilians then the guns.

I, however, stood perfectly still. I was nervous obviously, but I stood my ground and hid behind the isle for some protection.

Suddenly everything stopped.

No more screams. No more movement. No more guns.

Was it over?

In the corner of my eye, I watched as an older man came out from around the corner to check if they had left. He seemed to calm when he met my stare.

He paused and took a breath of relief. He then proceeded to make his way towards me.

I gave him a warming smile as I slowly began to stand up again.

I look away for two seconds.

The bullet that was shot right next to my face deafens me. I hold pressure against my ears and scream in pain.

The head-splitting ringing in my ears makes me collapse to the floor.

Whilst holding my head in pain, I roll over on the floor where I find the old man. A fresh bullet wound has been struck through the centre of his head. His thick blood consumed the once clean floor.

His lifeless eyes staring straight at me.

I scramble backwards up to my feet.

Shock plastered all over my face.

I swallow my breath, but before I realise that I've backed up into the open space, it was too late.

Everything turned into slow motion.

A rather large figure coated in black clothing is stood pointing a gun straight at my head. It looks like a standard M9 pistol.
I get ready to brace myself until I noticed another figure sprinting towards me.
I have no time to react when he leaps and pushes me to the floor, landing on top of me.

As I fell, I smashed my head against the tile floor causing me to grimace in pain.

I can see the figure who saved me trying to talk to me but, I can't hear anything. Darkness starts to surround my vision whilst I feel myself getting picked up and carried away.

The darkness takes over until...nothing.
