Inner Monster

When the worst parts of me,
Show up to you,
All the sadness,
Bitterness,
And Fear seeps through.

They bite,
They bruise,
They spew hateful words,
Everything I'm not,
Stands infront of you.

Did I not warn you,
This monster lives inside me,
Locked in its chains,
Deep within my soul,

I'll play its games,
To keep it at bay,
Pushing the bad emotions away,
Until there is nothing left,
Except for a hollow smile,
That seems so lifeful to others around me,

They don't see what I see,
They can't,
They won't,
I refuse to let them meet the Monster,

Sadness,
Pain,
Heartbreak,
Disappointment,
And so much more,
Pile up and up,
For years on end,
I can't even remember when it all began,

If something hits the right spot,
The floodgates open,
The monster approaches,
I must clamp my mouth shut,
Before words that cannot be taken back ,
Spew out like poison,

I do my best,
To keep my monster at bay,
But they refuses to stay away,
They always come back.
My inner monster.
