"Okay fellas! When we get back the Spring National Prelims begin 3 days after. Take this day to refine any of the moves and techniques you've been working on. The college team was generous enough to let us use half of their gym for personal practice so don't take it for granted. Now let's begin!"
"Yes Captain!" The boys answer and separate into their own little groups and begin to practice. I walk over to Watari and smile.
"Your sets look really good! One minor thing though, be sure to make it look like you are receiving the ball like you've done previously but every once in a while to through off the other team." I smirk and so does Watari.
"Sure thing Y/N."
"Thanks!"
I look at the boys and see Toru and Iwa practice together and I fell myself smile. Toru is the base of our team and Iwa is the pillar that supports him. Our team is addition, we add different plays and strategies to add on to our base and make a greater sum. We have passion and drive which just adds gas to the fire. We will win. I feel it. We need to. Aoba Josiah, as long as I have been here, have never gone to nationals. We have always lost by a mere sliver.
Toru and Tobio are 2 completely different kinds of setters. Tobio is a genius setter who is driven by his need to win and that only. It takes someone special to hit one of his sets. Toru is not only driven by his want to win but also to see his team succeed. Toru relies on his natural talent, improving as he goes on. He has pin point accuracy in his serves. He's clever and can think quick on his feet like Tobio. But most of all, he adjusts to the needs of his team. And that gives us the upper hand.
AFTER THE TRAINING CAMP//BACK AT AOBA JOSAIH//3 DAYS BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT
"Hey Y/N-senpai!" I turn around and see a familiar under class-men, Jin Ito. She's a first year right now and went to Kitagawa Daichi. She used to mange the soccer team and I think she still does but the high school one. We used to see each other when both of our teams shared the gym. She's holding a folder and her bento in her hands.
"Jin! How are you?" I say happily as I pat her head.
"I'm good. I was just asking if the volleyball club still needed a manager? If it is can I become one? I mean I know, I know I'm more versed in soccer but I love volleyball." She asks hopefully and I feel a wave of relief come over me.
"Really! Y-ya of course it is! You're hired!" I won't need to worry about the younger members anymore. Jin Ito knows the ropes, she's done this before and I've seen it. She strong and confident from the start.
"Thanks Y/N-senpai!"
"You can start after this tournament so the secretary can file your paperwork . I will introduce you to the guys after the matches and then we can get you a tracksuit. You've managed a team before so I don't need to train you, which is. a relief." I explain and Jin nods.
"Thanks! Well, I've gotta meet with Yahaba-kun. Have a nice day!" Jin says and walks off.
"Yahaba-kun? Is that why she chose our club?" I ask myself as I walk off, maybe he is gonna get a girlfriend.
I'll surprise the guys with a new manager after this tournament. They won't need to worry about not having the extra help now.
"Careful!" I say as I rush up to Karasuno's knew manger and shield her from a ball the Makki received oddly with my wrist. I look around the new manager and I to see if there are any more but I see Yahaba with a dead look on his face with his arm out and a ball rolls to my feet. That boy really tried to flirt with this girl right before a match. I glare at Yahaba and he chuckles nervously. Tanaka gets the ball from my feet and pushes the it into Yahaba who winces. I turn around and bow to the new manger.
"Sorry for that." I apologize and I hear her stutter.
"N-no! That's fine! Thanks for g-getting the ball away f-from me!" She screams and I chuckle. Kiyoko walks up to us and I shake her hand as a hello.
"This is Yachi. Our new manager." Kiyoko introduces and I turn to the blonde girl and smile.
"Nice to meet you Yachi. Y/N L/N." I greet and she smiles. I turn to Kiyoko and smirk.
"I hope your team does well." I say.
"Let's play a good game today." Kiyoko says. I wave to the two girls before I walk off to Tobio.
"Tobio, play well."I say.
"Of course I will." He smirks and I laugh.
"Good luck. You guys will need it."I smirk as I walk back to my team. I walk up to Toru and give him a hug and wraps his arms around my shoulders.
Toru turns to the boys and straighten his posture.
"I trust you guys." He says and the team gets serious and turn to me.
"This is our chance to get to nationals. Win the game then the next. You can do it. I believe in you all. All of you." I smile as I look at Kyoutani who had the most trouble adjusting to the team. Kyoutani nods and I smile again. "Go out there and play like you always do! Karasuno are not the only ones who have improved!" I say louder and the guys get pumped up.
"Thank you Miss Manager!" They say and I smile softly at them before I sit back down on the bench.
