Percabeth meets mortals

Conner Darcy Part 2

Conner left Annabeth alone for a few weeks and he slowly gained her trust back. Everything was back to normal, except she wasn't allowed over to her boyfriends house again. Conner didn't mind. He didn't want to do anything related to Percy Jackson.

He resumed talking with Annabeth about books and school, and they would sit together during lunch. They went to the library together after school as well, and their relationship was good once more. Conner was thrilled to become her best friend once more.

He was hoping that Annabeth and Percy would break up, and she would come to him crying. Then he could comfort her and voila! he was her boyfriend. He had a feeling in his gut, that something would happen to Percy and Annabeth.

Conner was surprised when he came to visit her in her dorm and found her packing away her uniforms. Around her were two suit cases, and a backpack. Was she moving to another school?

"Annabeth?" asked Conner. She turned around, and he saw something he would never see before. She was crying and never in the three months he was acquainted with her, had he seen her cry. She was tough and she doesn't cry. That is why something horrible must have happened.

Realization hit him. That Percy boy broke up with her! He wanted to strangle that boy. Conner knew that he was a player and would break her heart, he just didn't know when. Seeing her like this was heartbreaking, but now he could take Percy's place.

Annabeth grabbed her suitcases and swung her backpack onto her shoulders. "Hey Conner" she said and walked over. She sniffed and dabbed her eyes.

"I knew he would do this. You should have told me that you and Percy-"

"Broke up?" asked Annabeth with a small smile. "We didn't"

What? Why was she leaving, and why was she crying. Did she not want to be his friend after he kissed her or be in the same school? "Then why are you leaving?"

"You see..." said Annabeth taking a deep breath. "Percy is missing"

"Missing?"

"Yes and nobody knows where he went." she said swallowing the lump in her throat. "I'm living with my friends until he is found, and it might take a while"

"How long?" asked Conner

"Between few months to a few years" said Annabeth

Conner was shocked. A whole year without her, he had met her recently but she had become part of his life! And now she was leaving for some lousy boyfriend who would break her heart. Pathetic!

"look, I need to leave okay. I can't explain everything to you" she said

"Don't trust me" asked Conner

"I trust you!, its private"

He scoffed. "You are quitting your education for a boy? Because your four month boyfriend is gone? That is so pathetic, I never expected it from you" I said

Annabeth gritted her teeth. "You sound like my father. Anyway, I don't care. I need to leave, Percy is missing. This is serious, you just don't understand. It will put everyone in danger" she said looking me dead in the eye.

"Everyone in danger" said Conner, rolling his eyes. "Yeah right"

"I am leaving" said Annabeth and walked out. "Don't bother looking for me since you wont find me!" she yelled over her shoulder. Then she left.
