Later that evening, I walked over to Dr. Max. "Hey," I said quietly. "I think I owe you an apology. I've been so mean to you all these years, and I've never really said sorry. So, I'm sorry."

I'm sure that he thought this was some sort of mean joke, and that I was going to yell at him again for one reason or another. "I'm not going to yell at you," I said apologetically. "All these years, I have always thought that you guys would play pranks on me like you used to, so I used my acting skills to prevent that. I went to acting college, and I wanted to be an actor, but then all this happened. I never wanted to do this."

"Wow. College for 4 years only to do something that doesn't involve it at all."

"Yeah, well, it does have SOME acting..." I said, remembering the time that we had barely made it through the government tour with acting to make it easier. "Wait... how do you know how many years it takes to be an actor? That isn't very common knowledge."

"Well, I also went to acting school. I think we might have been to the same school, because I saw your resume. It had the same college I went to on it."

I was extremely surprised about this. I had always thought that he had gone to some college like Harvard, or something. I guessed that he was really good at acting to make another actor think that. "Do you mind coming into my office for a minute? I have proof that this isn't just some elaborate scheme." I led him to my office and showed him Max the bird. "This is Max. He's named after you. It's the only way I could show my fondness for you (as a friend, by the way) without you knowing. I really love birds, especially parrots. Just so you know, this is a great honor in my eyes, having a parrot named after you. They are awesome."

I could see the disbelief in Dr. Max's eyes, so I walked over and hugged him. He tensed, his eyes widening, and then relaxed and hugged me back. I was extremely excited to be his friend, even if we weren't working together anymore. I was about to tell him that I was ending the project, then stopped, thinking that it could wait.
