Whenever I hear the part before the chorus, I hear a conversation between Daryl and Diana and she's upset about something. It goes like this:
Diana: am I messed up
Daryl: *sort of making fun of her* forever flawed. Beyond repair.
Diana: *tears in her eyes* but forever yours?
Daryl: *heart stops because he realizes this kid is his now and he'll kill anyone who looks at his delinquent the wrong way*
