She spent the whole morning searching for any escape she could find.

One attempt to run away was inturrupted by Shane standing in her way, hands on his hips.

A glance at the woods was cut in by a hispanic man clearing his throat.

Backing away two steps to the forest caused Daryl to pull her back by her shirt.

The rest of the time was nervous or wary glances from everyone else.

It got even worse when... what was her name... Lori? Yeah. When Lori asked her if she wanted to join the other kids in an educational game before they had school.

Why were they working so hard to make her part of their group? She very obviously wanted nothing to do with them.

"Do you think we should make a trip into the city?" Dale asked as he worked on the RV, the hood was propped up.

Glenn shrugged. "I don't know. There might be some medicine there. Food. Or more people." He handed Dale a wrench. "Could be worth it."

Diana watched them closely from her spot in the grass. Shane had given her a choice between doing schoolwork with the other kids or have Dale and Glenn watch her.

To Diana, the answer was clear as day. Why would she want to spend time with a boy who ratted on her and a girl desperate for friends? The older man and Asian boy seemed like they'd accidentally let her skip through their fingers easier than if she were trapped in a tent with Lori. Besides, she'd much rather overhear their plans.

If they went to the city there would be less people watching her.

It had already been about an hour of forced conversation between the two guys, awkwardly searching for words to say in front of their new company.

"Who all is going to the city anyway?" She questioned carefully.

Both Glenn and Dale looked at her in surprise.

"Now you want to talk, huh?" Dale chuckled. "What's got you so interested in the city?"

Diana rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "I'm hoping that Daryl will go so I won't have to see his face anymore."

It was partly true. But if he was gone he wouldn't be able to stop her from running away. It would be perfect.

"I'll be honest," Glenn smiled, "I'd be happy if either one of the Dixon brothers went to the city."

It was nice to hear that she wasn't the only one who had this distaste for them.

Dale nodded as he leaned over the engine. "Lori doesn't trust them around the kids. It would be nice to have a break from at least one of them."

Diana stood from her seat on the grass and walked closer to the RV, tensing as she neared the two.

Her father used to work on cars. He was a mechanic. He fixed up bikes and occasionally cars. She loved walking into the garage to watch him working on his latest project. If she was lucky, he would take her on a test drive. She had lived for those days when the wind would rush through her hair as she sat on the back of her father's motorcycle. It was the closet thing to flying she ever felt.

"So, kid," Dales voice snapped her out of her daydream, "if we go to the city, is there anything you want us to bring back for you?"

She shrugged. "I don't know."

Why would she make this easy for them? And why would they want to know what she wanted? They didn't even know her.

"Come on, everyone wants something."
