Around lunchtime is when I usually pull out my phone and start reading web novels or playing video games. Not romance otome games though. But ever since Lilith entered my life, I actually have a person to communicate with. I love Lilith and all, but I'm not a people-person. She talks to me a lot, and it's mostly about trying to get me to play these cringe games with her, and to read those century old romance novels.
She rants on as I drink my milk. When she recommends me a romance novel I will never read, I put my milk carton down and tell her, "Lils. Even my great grandmother won't read your century old romance novel. And she's kept 'The Scarlet Letter' ever since World War II ended!"
We both shudder.
She tells me so much about these things, that at this point, I remember all of the deets of what happened.
Lilith is a romantic. And she's the complete opposite of me. But hey, we're like peanut butter and jelly.
After school ends, Lilith gets picked up by her adoptive parents, and I head back home on my own. I always feel icky when I have to go home. Sometimes, when I see how lucky Lilith is, what a perfect person she is, and what a perfect family she has... I get jealous. Sometimes, I wish that I was a perfect person with perfect parents.
When I'm finally near my house, I take out my keys and cross my fingers, hoping that my dad was home.
