So yeah let's get started😚🤞

🎤INTRODUCTION

As-salaamu Alaykum everyone. My name is Safiah Shykh, aka PopcornSweetcorn. This is my first interview, so I’m a little nervous but also excited. I’m Somali (East African), residing in the UK. 20 something years old teacher and interpreter. I love and hate writing. I have so many ideas and drafts, it’s almost crazy.

🎤What inspired you to start writing?

After reading tons of Wattpad books (till 4 in the morning) I decided to write a chapter to see if it was easy and if I could do it too. That night, I ended up writing about 3 chapters of a short thriller and kinda scared myself. 😆😆 That was when I realised I could write stories. And I did.

🎤When did you start writing?

It was back in 2015 August at midnight.

🎤Have you always wanted to be a writer?

Nope. Though I did love reading when I was younger and had always wondered if I could ever write anything.

🎤What comes first the plot or the Characters?

Characters. Always characters. Case in point: Aala Malik

🎤What is the most difficult part about writing for you?

Describing. English actually my fourth language and you can imagine how hard it is. If anyone has tips on how to improve, would appreciate it.

🎤When you're writing an Emotional, Sad, Romantic scene, how did you get in the mood?

I imagine it. I close my eyes and let it play it in my head. And weirdly those scenes are easier to write.

🎤What was your most favorite part and least favorite part of the publishing Journey?

I love that feeling when I publish a chapter. But hate getting stuck in the middle of a book. It happened to me so many times.

🎤Did you find it more challenging to come up with your First Book?

No. When I first discovered writing on Wattpad, I couldn’t stop writing. I was continuously updating as ideas were flowing. I missed those days. Wattpad was fun back then.
