Roxy and Jason were standing in the loft. It looked as clean as it did the day she went missing, the exact same as it was the day Maeve went missing. Roxy silently made her way around the room, noticing Maeve's favourite book on the table next to the book shelf and picked it up, going through it
"How helpful would a diary be?" Jason asked and Roxy turned her head
"Very" Roxy replied as she turned her attention back to the book and noticed Maeve's phone on the table
"I think I found something" Jason said and Roxy walked toward him, it was a diary with three locks on it
"I have her phone" Roxy said as they heard the door close and looked at each other before rushing to find a place to hide and then went inside the closet, they listened to the footsteps, they were slow and then they stopped
"Oh, Maeve" Joey sobbed. Joey Reed, The black haired, blue eyed boyfriend of Maeve. He sat down on the bed
"He's drunk" Jason whispered and Roxy nodded before looking at the phone in her hand
"Is he asleep?" Roxy asked in a whisper as Jason looked through the crack in the door watching as he stood up and went to the bathroom
"Alright, let's go" Jason said as he opened the closet door and they stepped out, hearing the shower start, they slowly walked toward the front door when the floor creaked beneath their feet and the froze for a minute, there was no change and then they opened the front door and it squeaked loudly
"Who the f**k is there!" They heard and they froze, the diary and phone could be seen
"Give me the diary" Roxy whispered and Jason handed it to her and watched as she threw it on the beanbag chair in the garage and hid the phone in her pocket
"Follow my lead" Roxy said and Jason nodded as they heard rapid footsteps coming their way
"I said who the f**k is there" Joey said as he walked around the corner with a gun
"It's Roxy, I just wanted to make sure that you're doing okay" Roxy said and Joey laughed before putting the gun on the table
"Hey, kid. How've you been" Joey asked slurring his words
"As good as can be expected considering the circumstances" Roxy said and Joey nodded
"Trust me, I know how that feels" Joey said
"Well, I better get going" Rory said and she turned around
"Hold on. Who's this guy?" Joey asked. Roxy and Jason looked at each other before averting their gazes
"I'm Jason" Jason said
"Jason?" Joey questioned
"Just Jason" he shrugged and Joey made grunt noise before laughing
"Shit, man! You're hooking up with this guy!" Joey said with a laugh
"I'll see you around, Joey" Roxy said civilly before grabbing the doorknob and walking out of the loft and going toward the beanbag chair, grabbing the diary and a pair of pliers
"What're you doing?" Jason asked as he stood next to her
"We gotta get into this thing somehow" Roxy commented
"I guess" Jason said and Roxy stopped what she was doing
"Alright; I know it bothered you but guess what, that guy in there isn't the same Joey we used to go to school with, this is the Joey that hangs out in bars, smokes weed and buys cocaine and heroin from shady guys in the shady parts of town. Why does it matter what he says? Besides that, why does it matter what anyone says? The only person that can actually tell you what you're thinking, feeling or doing is you. Understood?" Roxy said and Jason nodded
"Yeah, I guess, it was the way he said it, he just bothered me" Jason said and Roxy laughed
"I'll be damned, Joey Reed bothered Jason Chase. What a wonderful world it is" Roxy said
