KWABS      --      Perfect Ruin

How long can lovers stand to prove they were right?

Why did I fold my hand?   Why choose another fight?

How long would we have gone to know we shouldn't stay?

I saw you walk the wire, I watched you burn away.

Somehow it moved me

Your love has powers over me

Oh what dream is this?

Somehow it towers over me

Send your love to move me

My world has powered over me

In perfect ruins

Somehow it towers over me

Who said we had it all?

Our hearts no longer lie

Who knew the veil would fall?

Who'd guess that we would cry?

What more were we to do?

Two souls who had their fill

Your love it keeps me here

You keep me wondering still.

Somehow it moved me

Your love has powers over me

Oh what dream is this?

Somehow it towers over me

Send your love to move me

My world has powered over me

In perfect ruins

Somehow it towers over me.

Perfect Ruins

The ride home was long and quiet and uncomfortable.  Larry looked out of the window constantly, ignoring his brother completely, wiping away the occasional errant tear.  He was so hurt that Laurent hadn't jumped to his defense, and argued his love for him.  He hadn't said a damn thing of consequence.  They entered the apartment the same way, keys crashing onto the marble kitchen counter top, Larry going straight to his room.

"Larry, please, we need to ..... "

"No.  Talking's done, Lau.  It seems you have nothing to say, or you would have said it by now, and you've had every chance.  Time for actions to speak."

The next day, when Larry was at Charlie's class, Laurent met with Nathan.

"Nathan, I .... um ..... " He fidgeted with the sugar shaker on the table, not able to make eye contact, thumping the glass on the table unnecessarily in his nervousness.

"Oh, I don't like this, Lau.  Look at me, please ?"  He lifted his eyes to meet Nathan's, who could already read on his face what it was that he wanted to tell him.

"No.  Really ?  Already ?  I had hope .... "  He wasn't the only one.

"I'm sorry, but I'm love with someone else.  I have been for a long time."  He was.  And he would not lose that love, not again, the love that had been offered to him on silver platter, and so unconditionally.  Now that Laurent had found his balls, along with his right mind.  He was still scared shitless, but Larry had been right.  About everything.
