"Wonwoo dear, come here" Wonwoo heard his mother's lovely voice call from the living room. He walked inside the living room with a smile on his face as he saw his little sister -three years younger than him- and his parents sitting together "Yes mom?" his mother patted the small space next to her, signing him to sit. He did as his mother said and looked at her"So I and your father were thinking since you're already 22 years old, we want to see you get married" she let out making her oldest son chuckle "Let me find someone to marry first, mother" Wonwoo's mother looked at her husband for help and he immediately spoke up "but you've been saying that for a year now son" Wonwoo sighed and looked at his dad "Well that's because I haven't found a person I want to marry yet.."
Wonwoo's mother heard what he said and quickly jumped back into the conversation "But what if I told you we found you someone?" she said and looked at her son to see his reaction, and as she expected he wasn't happy "what do you mean?..." The father sighed and decided to just announce the news "You're going to marry the Kim's son"
Wonwoo didn't know how to react to the sudden news. He just got a new job since his old workplace wasn't the best and was going to start working after a month. He thought everything was going great and he would be able to help his parents with their debts and bills using his salary but then this news comes and ruins what he envisioned for the future.
"What?..b-but why?" Wonwoo's mother felt bad for forcing her son to do this but she understood what her husband wanted from the marriage and she knew how much her family needed the money. The reason she agreed to the marriage, was that she knew how kind and humble the Kim's family is despite being really rich, and it meant Wonwoo would have good in-laws that won't make his life a living hell.
"You see son we...are getting tighter in money to pay..debts and bills are coming down on us like a waterfall and we barely have money to keep food in our stomachs and also with your sister going to college this year we need the money-" "Yes I know but I got a new job! I'm going to start working next month! Why did you make the deal without even telling me?! You even set a date! I-I was going to give all the money for your debts-" Wonwoo cut himself off with a loud groan as he ruffled his hair in frustration. He took a deep breath with his eyes closed and started thinking.
"If I do this, then my parents won't have any debts and bills to pay which means they'll do all the things they want to do and more. Wonji will be able to go to the college she wanted to go to. I may not be able to do what I want, but at least they would be happy.."
"Ugh! You know what, just do whatever you want, but at least let me meet their son and get to know him before the wedding.." Wonwoo's mother's smile beamed the room as she looked at her husband then at her son as she saw her daughter jump to hug Wonwoo "Oh thank you so much Wonwoo! Thank you! Thank you! Thank yoU!" Wonji squeezed her brother in the tightest hug and kissed his cheeks making him giggle "Okay okay that's enough" he pushed her away softly with a gentle smile on his face "Actually, you two are going to meet each other tomorrow because we're going to go to the Kim's house" Wonwoo sighed but nodded his head
"When exactly is the wedding?" Wonwoo asked with clear hesitation in his voice. His father ignored that and answered his question "In three weeks" "WHAT?!" Wonwoo gasped three weeks?! We didn't even plan the wedding!" Wonwoo's mother chuckled at her son's reaction and rubbed his back "Calm down Wonwoo dear. Everything has been planned for a year now. The only thing that was left is for you two to meet!" Mrs.Jeon exclaimed as she clasped her hands together in excitement. Wonwoo sighed and got up "Well I should go to bed now, I'm pretty tired," he said as he feigned a yawn and quickly escaped to his room and locked the door.
Wonwoo threw himself on the bed and stared at the ceiling lost in thought "Let's hope I didn't make the wrong decision" he whispered to himself before his eyelids got heavier.
"Wonwoo! Are you ready yet?" he heard his sister knock on his door as she stood outside his room. The Jeon's oldest son opened the door revealing his fancy look for the dinner with the Kim family.
He was wearing a fitting white blouse with a dark blue suit jacket on top and a tie under the collar of the blouse. He also wore black pants and matching black shoes with a nice watch his mother forced him to wear along with his glasses, and to top the look off he had his hair styled upwards revealing his forehead giving him a much more mature look.
"Ooo~ Looking good Wonwoo!" his younger sister complimented Wonwoo making him chuckle and ruffle her hair. "Hey! Don't mess up my hair I just brushed it!" Wonwoo stuck his tongue out at her and walked to the door to see his parents waiting outside for him "You look really handsome dear" his mother said as she rubbed his back. He smiled at her and got inside the car "Should I drive dad? I know you don't like driving too much" Mr.Jeon laughed and nodded his head "Sure! Go ahead" Wonwoo got in the driver's seat after waving to his sister, who was staying home since she was studying for her upcoming entrance exam for college, and drove away to the address his mother gave him.
