The police arrived moments later, along with paramedics. I'm sorry to say that the Travis died long before they made it. The police asked me a few questions concerning about Travis's death and how he died. I told them everything they needed to know. Not every detail concerning about the book, but told them that Teviel was responsible for Travis's death. 10 minutes later, they left my apartment, but not before telling me to call them if Teviel comes to me.
I sat on the couch, mortified that I couldn't save him. Loona came out of the closet looking concerned about me. She sat next to me while wrapping her arms and tail around me. I laid my head next to her, trying to keep myself from crying.
"I couldn't save him." I said sadly. "He didn't deserve this."
Loona was shushing calming. "It's ok, Bogy. It wasn't your fault."
"But I could've-"
"Travis...Travis is no longer suffering. Please. Don't beat yourself up. Just...just let it out. No one is around to mock you. Just get it over with."
I hugged Loona in an instant and wailed out my pain. My tears soaked her fur and clothes, but she kept holding on to me, comforting me with every heartbreaking moment. After a good 10 minutes of weeping, I thank Loona for helping me through my grief. She smiled and licked my cheek, causing me to smile. There is no doubt in my mind: She's truly my best friend, and she is the one I want to be with.
As I was about say something, my phone was ringing. I looked at the caller ID. It was unknown. I couldn't decided whether or not I should answer it. Was it another person asking for help? Was it the police using their own cellphones? I don't know. I was about to answer the phone when it stopped ringing. Damn. I didn't answer it in time.
A few minutes later my phone made another sound. The caller has just left a message. Loona and I were curious to see who that was. After I dialed the passcode, we played the message in speaker. What we heard was blood-chilling to us:
"Mr. Eiko. I know you are there, and I know you are protecting a demon. You truly are a fool for falling for her trick, just like Adam and Eve being tricked by the Devil. Truly a faithless fool, just like Travis, the traitors from the church, and everyone on this planet! This world is in desperate need of cleansing, and god has given me this divine book to see to it that the impure is removed and make way for the light to fill this world and the next! The faithless police tried to oppose me, and I sent them back to Hell where they were born from. I will bring forth god's divine judgment and set the future upon the path to redemption! Bogumierz Eiko. I offer you a chance to stand my be and rid this world of evil. All you have to do is either kill the demon, or bring her to me so that I will smite her. You have 24 hours to perform this redemption, or you can share the same faith as that non-believer. Glory to God! Death to the wicked!"
Our jaws dropped. Teviel has lost it, and he know about Loona's true form. We were both filled with fear. And the worst part was that the police who were investigating were killed in the process! Those poor men!
"This is all my fault." Loona said to herself.
"What?" I said. "Loona, no. It's not you-"
"Don't say that!" She shouted. "It is my fault!!! I've should've known better than to bring the Grimoire with me! I knew it was dangerous! That book was not meant to be used by mortal hand!"
"What are you saying?"
Loona took a deep breath. "Bogy. The Grimoire is not just a teleportation book, it's a complete spellbook of the underworld! It contains every kind of spell that has existed up to this day. In fact, I was able to master a few spells from it. But it also has a big risk."
