He was about to greet her when she walked away after closing the gates and he was left in bewilderment. She didn't even spare a glance at him, fastening her pace so that she was nowhere near him. It was already dark, she was the one who volunteered to clean the preschool so that she can avoid him. She didn't answer his calls, didn't reply his message and don't even bother to see his car parked at the corner, waiting for him. Of course she feels guilty about it, but she knew there's nothing good in talking with him now.
"Yerim!'
She didn't stop, tears were already falling and her cheek stings from her salty tears. Her father slap was hard, but she was too hurt to even treat it. The bus stop wasn't far from them so she sprinted to there, and a bus was already there with some passengers hoping it. She had to ride it or she will have to see those eyes that had lied to her and also because she was afraid to hear the truth. Never in a million years will she be siding with a criminal, so why did she lie to her father about Yoongi? Just why did she tried to save him?
Yerim was about to hold the rail when a pair of arms hugged her waist making her stumbled back to someone chest. Before she could pushed the person away, she was turned to face him, and she saw how angry the man was with him trying to catch his breath. The bus driver honk the bus, earning their attention and Yoongi shook, signalling that Yerim won't ride it tonight. She then realise what he was doing when she tried to squirmed in his arm but she was too late when the driver closed the door and within a few seconds, he had already left them. How could he left her just like that? What if Yoongi was some kind of kidnapper?
"What is wrong with you? You didn't answer your calls, replying my messages and now you are trying to run away from me. Did I do something wrong?"
Yes, but again it was my fault too.
"Why don't you tell me Yoongi? What is wrong? Why did I ignored you the whole day and even tried to run away from you?"
"If you don't tell me what is wrong, then how should I know the root of the problem?"
"Do you really want to know?"
Her voice quivered in anger but sadness. If it wasn't for her father, she will never know about the man work. Though it wasn't confirmed that he was the man they were searching for, but Yerim knew he will have known something. It was only one lie, but if he was the man her father spotted at the port, then the whole thing she heard from him will be a complete façade. Every lie he make will click together like a completed pieces of puzzle only to show the crumbled truth of him. Yerim was scared to know who he is actually, but she couldn't let go of the attachment she had with him.
"Us. We are wrong. And you know why, Yoongi"
His grip on her shoulder fell down, leaving the man hands hanging by his side. His eyes turned to a look of despair with shock and he took a step back from the woman. Yerim saw how his expression changed, and she knew that she hit the spot. The bullet she shot at him, was actually burning herself too. How she wished her father was wrong, but Yoongi face shows how precisely the man is. And for once, the word 'stupid' she often heard from her father suited her nicely in this situation.
"How did you know?"
"How I know shouldn't bother you-"
"Yerim! How did you know?," his voice raised making the woman shoulder jerked up in surprise. Never once he shouted at her, and Yerim was scared. But she knew the man would never hurt her, even though she had no valid reason why he won't hurt her.
"My father called me, he told me about how he saw someone like you in the port the night before he came to visit us, and he asked me were you with me that time. Yoongi I knew you weren't there that night, but I decided to trust you. I decided that maybe I was mistaken , that maybe you were there but I was too sleepy to even know where were you. But when my father said that he saw you outside, at the port, and with the smell of the car perfume, will you still think I will believe you?"
He stood there in silent, hands slightly shaking and his heart hammering his chest. The secret he was trying to protect Yerim from was know no longer a secret, and she found out the other way. If it wasn't her father, Yoongi would have punched the man.
"And I lied. I lied that I know why you were there. I lied that you were at the port for some business that you have informed me about when the truth is, I never know, or wasn't supposed to know that you were there, doing something that even I couldn't imagine. Does that answer you, why I ignored you for the whole day? If it wasn't for you, I would have cry myself to sleep tonight and decided to believe your words again. Now look, you don't even stop me, nor denying it. You are the man my father had been searching for. And I, as a stupid woman decided to lie to him about you. It is wrong. Everything is wrong, Yoongi"
There were no more words from Yerim and by the time she was finished, her tears were already dried leaving her eyes tired and a look of despair was there. He didn't dare to come closer, nor he tried to walk away. Seeing how speechless he was, Yerim knew it was better that she should end things between them, even when she never wanted to.
"Let us end this Yoongi. You and I know better than continuing this. I don't know if our feelings are real for each other or not, but Jungkook may be right about you once. That a man like you, isn't capable of being in love. And my father is right, a woman like me will always be stupid to be in love. So let just end this"
With her words, she walked away from him, leaving the man standing there looking lost at her figure stepping away from him. "A man uncapable of being in love," he whispered to himself before he chuckled at the word itself. Rather than feeling amused, it was hurt. Guess Jungkook was right, guess Namjoon was right, the word being in loved and to care for others never once existed in his life. The happy ending Seokjin talked to him was now longer reachable for him, as his story has already come to the end.
"Let's end this, Yerim. Because I wasn't capable to be in love with anyone"
