Chapter 28: Final Decision

Kristy came home with the girls to find Joe sitting on the couch.

Riley: finallyyyyyy winter break!!!!
Joe: that's awesome girls, high five

Joe high five the twins and Kristy said.

Kristy: sadly I still got school because of the dance
Joe: hey at least finals are over
Mads: what are we doing for the break?
Joe: hmm... let me think, all the paper works I have to doo *shows the girls the massive finals paper and drops them on the table*
Mads: so no ski trip this year like we always do?
Joe: sorry girls, maybe if Nick and I finished before Christmas we will think about it
Riley: ugh... why did you becoming a professor and have to mess up our entire break
Joe: hey we would have gone on the ski trip if we were in California, but nooo you girls wanted to stay here
Kristy: I'm not even sure if I want to go to the school dance. I don't even have a dress or a date
Joe: we can buy you a dress
Kristy: I don't want my brother buying my dress, that's so unprofessional
Joe: Well... How else are you going to get a dress, you need money?
Kristy: Sophie can take me
Joe: I don't know
Kristy: pleaseeeee
Joe: alright just call Sophie and hit her up on it
Kristy: thanks Joe, you're the best *kiss his cheek*

The next day.

Sophie was out shopping with the girls and Mads said.

Mads: ooo I want to shop at Forever 21 pleaseeeee
Sophie: let's check the list Joe sent me
Mads: what list?
Sophie: Sophie, if Mads try to convince you to buy her an outfit that's not child appropriate, send her back home with nothing
Mads: he didn't say that
Sophie: he did, and that store is not on his list
Mads: ughhhhh, even when he's not around he still finds a way to ruin my life
Riley: that's Joe for you
Sophie: he's just over protective of you girls, that all
Kristy: it's not just that Sophie, he never let us do anything. Mom and dad never gave us this many rules when they were around, because they knew we were good kids and always obeyed the rules. With Joe it's different
Sophie: Well Joe feels like he missed a lot of your life girls and he doesn't know what to expect from you three. Have you three ever given him doubts not to trust you?
Riley: I guess we have been giving Joe a little hard time since he came back into our life. Mads and I never really known him well like Kristy did so we didn't know what we were expecting
Mads: I thought it was cool to have another older sibling in the house. Kristy too bossy
Kristy: I am not bossy!
Mads/Riley: are too
Kristy: take that back!
Sophie: Alright you three, yes sometimes Joe can be controlling when it comes to you girls, but he does it for the right reason to protect you. He told me when he first found out what happened that night he thought you guys were in there together. It broke his heart knowing he could have lost his whole family. He felt guilty leaving you guys
Kristy: He did? He never said he felt guilty. He only talked about regretting
Sophie: yeah he and your parents left on bad terms
Kristy: yeah I heard the fight. Dad told him *micks her father's voice* "if you walked out the door, you're not allowed to come back!" I couldn't hear much from the closed doors. All I kept doing was blame Joe for walking out on this family, when it was dad that kicked him out all along
Sophie: I can't imagine being your age and hearing your dad and brother go at it. Nick and my dad always had a great relationship
Kristy: that's because Nick is a good boy, not saying Joe isn't, but Joe did have a rebellious past, he always hated it here. I can understand why he wanted us to move to California
Sophie: Maybe California would have been a good move for you girls. I mean it isn't too late
Kristy: so you don't care not seeing us again including Nick if he decides to go with us
Sophie: I know my brother, his dream isn't really becoming a teacher. I know he always wanted to do music. But he couldn't stand up to our father like Joe did to his.
Kristy: you think we are holding them back by not letting them chase their dream?
Sophie: absolutely not, those boys love you and would do anything for you girls
Kristy: oh...

At dinner.
The family was eating and Kristy was sitting at the table picking at her food thinking about what and her Sophie were discussing today.

Nick: Kristy? You okay? You haven't touch your dinner yet
Kristy: *looks up* Why did you become a teacher?
Nick: excuse me?
Joe: Kristy...
Kristy: I wanna know why you became a teacher
Nick: because it's what I always wanted to do
Kristy: that's not what Sophie said
Nick: What did Sophie tell you?
Kristy: she said you love making music
Nick: I'll kill her
Joe: Nick, I didn't know you made music?
Nick: you weren't supposed to know. I kept it a secret. Only Sophie knew because she caught me singing once, and she swore to secrecy. Great going sis.
Kristy: don't blame her, I forced her
Joe: Kristy, where is this coming from?
Kristy: *blurts out* I wanna move to California

Joe and Nick were surprised as well as the twins.

Kristy: I found a private school in California where the girls and I can attend and you two can still focus on your music. *hands them the template* the girls and I will be going to the same school so it's not to much trouble
Joe: hold up, hold up. If I remember correctly, weren't you the one who wanted to stay?
Kristy: I changed my mind. I feel like the girls and I are the reason we are holding you guys back from doing the one thing you love
Nick: hold up, hold up. Woah. I feel like this should be discussed together as a family before we consider moving. You three are still in the middle of the school. If we move you three will have to start the year over
Kristy: technically we are all here, and we basically are discussing it just during dinner, and the girls and I can start the school in September, will move in the summer
Joe: you put a lot of thought into this huh, have you really thought about this?
Nick: we don't know if this is what the twins want
Riley: I don't mind moving to California
Mads: me too. I wonder if we will meet any celebrities
Riley: plus it's always warm in California. Arizona is okay but I feel like we've been living here all our lives
Kristy: and Nick you can be closer to Priyanka as well
Nick: Kristy, what about you?
Kristy: I'll be fine, all three of us will. Plus we can easily make new friends. I just have to break the news to Claudia and my friends
Joe: What do you say Nick? If the girls are up to this, so am I. You're apart of the family now so whatever decision you make affect the family too
Nick: I don't know there's a lot to take in. Of course we are going to need a nanny to look after the twins because my family can't do it. Oh no my parents! What if they don't agree to this. My mom didn't even like the idea of me moving in with you guys. What makes you think she will support her only son moving far away-
Joe: Nick! *grabs his shoulder* Calm down! You don't need your parents permission. You just need their blessing. You're a grown man, it's time you start leaving the nest and move on. I know you love music man, you also became a music teacher for god sack! I see how happy music makes you
Nick: is-is this really happening- am I really going to do this
Joe: yes, and I will even help you. You're going to do amazing, and the people are going love your music
Nick: thanks buddy
Joe: don't thank me, thank Kristy
Nick: *smiles* thanks Kristy, for bringing music back into my life *hugs her*
Kristy: oh of course Nick *hugs back*
Joe: so... it's official, the Jonas Family is officially leaving Arizona. Now Kristy is this really what you want? Because once we make those final discussions there's no turning back
Kristy: I just like seeing you two being happy about music again. That's all that matter
Joe: alright because this is going to be a big change for the whole family. And we are all going to have to adjust to this new change
Mads: does this mean we are going to be rich and have maids or butlers?
Joe: depends if my career take off and my record label would forgive me for leaving
Mads: *smiles happily* I love having a musician in the family
Kristy: *thinks: this is the first time I ever seen my family happy in a while. Maybe this move won't be so bad*
