Chapter 6:
At the Jonas Compound.
Nick was sitting the twins while Joe was at Mads meeting.Nick: *looks at his watch* girls did Kristy tell you guys where she was going today after gymnastics?
Twins: nope
Nick: she knows she's supposed to come home straight after school
Mads: didn't you have her last block
Nick: yes
Mads: then why didn't you bring her home
Nick: I offered but she said she would rather take the public bus
Mads: maybe she's at Kiawicki place, she always hang out at his diner after school
Nick: you're right, I'll give Kiawicki a call
Riley: shouldn't Kristy be the one giving you the call
Nick: you're right, and she didn't *walks away from the girls to make the call*
Riley: looks like little miss perfect is getting her phone taken away
Mads: how do you know that?
Riley: cause Joe made a separate list about phone privileges for Kristy, and since we don't have phones yet, we don't have to follow that rule
Mads: what are you getting at Riley?
Riley: since we can no longer read her diary, Joe didn't say anything about reading her text
Mads: but he also said that we cannot touch things without their permission
Riley: dang... I forgot
Nick: *comes back* Kiawicki said he hasn't seen her at the diner. Now I'm getting worried
Kristy: *comes through the door* hey!
Nick: oh thank goodness you're okay! Where have you been?
Kristy: I had gymnastics after school, remember?
Nick: I know about that, that ended hours ago. Where did you go afterwards?
Kristy: um... we headed to a friends house to celebrate
Nick: why didn't you call!
Kristy: I didn't know I had to...Nick sighs and gets up and goes to get the rules from the fridge and shows Kristy.
Nick: read the part where it says responsibility
Kristy: Nick...
Nick: Kristy... read...
Kristy: call us when plans have changed so we know where you're... I forgot
Nick: you did not forget Kristy
Kristy: ugh!!! Fine I didn't forget, happy! I just choose not to call you
Nick: you mean to tell me, you had me worried sick for nothing!Just then the door opened and it was Joe and Joe said.
Joe: hey guys, is dinner ready?
Mads: dinner is late
Joe: why? What happened? *sees Nick and Kristy in a stare down* what's going on?
Nick: someone is late
Joe: sorry dude I had the meeting with Mads teacher remember
Nick: not you, Kristy
Joe: Kristy? Our Kristy? Are you sure? What happened?
Nick: someone forgot to call to let me know when they were going somewhere else after gymnastics
Joe: oh that's my fault, I took everyone in the class phone away
Nick: why?
Joe: it was part of the assignment
Nick: and you didn't think to mentioned that part to me
Kristy: Does this mean I'm not in trouble anymore?
Nick/Joe: yes/no
Kristy: I take that as a yes *starts to leave*
Joe: *grabs shoulder* not so fast, you still could have called Nick at the friend house to let him know not to worry
Kristy: sorry Nick, it won't happen again
Joe: also didn't I tell you to remind Nick, you had two classes with him to remind him about your phone(Nick teaches English and Music, while Joe teaches History)
Kristy: again I forgot *starts to leave*
Joe: *grabs shoulder* you did not forget, you just choose not to remind him
Kristy: you guys think you know me so well, but you don't! Ow! *rubs bottom*
Joe: try again little girl
Kristy: *frowns* sorry... it won't happen again
Joe: good, let's eat
Kristy: I already ate, can I go to the library with friends to work on my project
Joe: fine, but be home by curfew
Kristy: yes sir, bye! *leaves*
Nick: you're just gonna let her leave like that after the way she talked to me
Joe: you'll be fine Nick, Mads we need to talk
Mads: did Sister Mary give me a make up?
Joe: no... instead she wants you to do some extra credit to make up for that incomplete
Mads: what do I have to do?
Joe: write an essay
Mads: an essay I can do that
Joe: 3,000 words essay on why art is important today, due tomorrow
Mads: but thats 6 pages!!! I never wrote a 6 page essay before. How am I gonna do all that by tomorrow!
Joe: better get started
Mads: sorry Nick, I got an essay to write if I don't want to fail art
Nick: thats two down
Riley: I got it *removes two plates from the table
Joe: I just remember that I stopped by Kiawicki on my way up here
Nick: *looks livid* Riley!
Riley: I got it *removes Joe's plate from the table*
Joe: sorry man, I forgot you prepared dinner tonight
Nick: I prepare dinner every night! You know what, since nobody appreciates my dinner anymore, I just won't make dinner at all!
Riley: no, Nick you don't mean that!
Nick: I do, and since Joe here who thinks he's the boss in the house, he's gonna call all the shots around. He's going to be the one in charge for now on
Riley: NO! Have you had this man cooking!
Joe: hey... I can cook
Riley: I'm tired of eating pasta food Joe
Joe: look man, I didn't mean to upset you
Nick: I'm tired of you acting like I don't do anything around here for this family Joe. Do you cook, do you clean the house, do you help with laundry? I'm not your maid and I'm tired of being treated like a servant to this family. Not once have I not gotten a single thank you Nick from any of you
Joe: Nick come on-
Nick: no, this Nick is on strike, you try serving the girls *slams apron at Joe and walks off*
Joe: welp, looks like I'm in charge
Riley: this is disaster, looks like this is my last Nick's meal
Joe: I can cook!
Riley: half...
Joe: you know what Riley, I'm sick of you girls treating me like I'm not as good as Nick with this thing. I will prove to you guys that I can do this just as better as Nick
Riley: I like to see you try, if you lose you have to apologize to Nick and begged him back
Joe: deal, if I win. You will have to apologize and say that I'm better than Nick
Riley: dealThey both shooked on it.
Chapter End Notes:
Uh-Oh! Nick's on strike, how do you think Joe will handle taking responsibility on the girls by himself.
