"Of course!" I answer back at her, starting to sweat. What possibly could she be wanting to tell me? Is she sick? Is she stressed?
"I am..." Nikoru said, pausing in between each syllable that came out of her mouth. "A lesbian".
I was speechless. Although she didn't seem like all the girls in my class, I didn't expect her to be Lesbian. Usually I would have been mad or upset, so why am I not?
"That's ok" I said to her in a relieved, yet, happy tone. "I support you" Nikaru seemed visibly more relieved.
"Oh, thank you so much! My parents don't know about this yet, and I don't plan on telling them any time soon." Nikoru said, sounding like she was almost joking around.
"Why won't you tell them?" I asked.
"Because, they are, like, really homophobic, and I don't want to give them a heart attack so I just don't plan on telling them." Nikoru said, clearly wanting to end the conversation.
"Oh" I say to Nikoru
Nikoru went silent after that.
I have only known Nikoru for about two hours now, but she is already expressing her emotions to me, so that's good for her! But the plan still isn't working. Everytime I look at her it seems like she just gets prettier and prettier, and that's not what is supposed to happen!
"I am so sorry that you have to go through that" I say, trying to show sorrow to Nikoru. I honestly feel bad. 'What have I done?' I think to myself. 'Is this how I have been acting to all of my homosexual friends all these years?' I think, regretting everything I have ever done that made them feel terrible about who they are.
"Are you okay?" Nikoru asks me.
"T-totally fine!" I say nervously, lying through my teeth.
"I have a question for you, Nikoru." I asked.
"What is it?" Nikoru asked, slightly confused.
"How do you bear such a secret and not tell anyone?" I ask Nikoru.
"Who said I haven't told anyone? All the people at the cafe know about my secret." Nikoru said, thinking that I knew what she was talking about.
"The people at the cafe? What cafe?" I ask
"The people at the LGBT cafe!" Nimoru said, still thinking I know what she is talking about.
"There is an LGBT cafe?"
