"You didn't know about the LGBTQ Cafe?" Nikoru asks me, looking puzzled.
"No...." I say with a big amount of confusion in my voice. How was I supposed to know about the cafe, when I didn't even support them to begin with!
"You've GOT to search it up when you get home! It is, like, the best place you can be when you are part of the community!" Nikoru says. I think she thinks that I know all about this, which is not true at all. That's why she is explaining all of this with little to no detail whatsoever!
"Where is this cafe?" I ask Nikoru
"It is down near Tokyo, I think" Nikoru says confusingly
"THAT'S ALMOST TWO HOURS AWAY FROM HERE!" I say in utter shock. If Nikoru's parents don't know about her secret, how does she get away with travelling almost two hours each week and not tell her parents where she is really going?
"I tell them that I made it into a top-notch art class near Tokyo and that's where I am going, when really I hate art. My parents haven't realized the truth yet though!" Nikoru announces a little too loud, acting like she is such a rebel (which she is).
"Why are you doing this?" I asked Nikoru, while taking out my History textbook.
"Doing what?" Nikoru asks, while taking out her kitchen cupboard, which she mistook this morning while she was packing her bag for a history book.
"All of this. Lying to your parents, going all the way to Tokyo just to go to a cafe, and keeping your secret to only yourself. Why do you do this?" I confront Nikoru. I may be digging a little too deep, but I need to get to the bottom of this. I kind of felt like a spy for a minute.
"Ummm... didn't I just explain it to you?" Nikoru said, looking like she had something that she needed to get off of her chest.
"I know, but what is the real reason?" I said, while trying to bite my sandwich while listening to Nikoru.
"I don't feel comfortable discussing details about this..." Nikoru said, while putting her lunch down.
"Hey I know! Why don't you take me to this cafe in Tokyo?" I said, feeling like a genius. "I'm free tomorrow! We can meet up at around 4:30pm and get there by 6:00pm, just in time for rush hour!" I said while packing my bag to get to my next class.
"Are you sure you want to go to the cafe? Not to be rude but you don't seem like the type of person who would like those types of cafes." Nikoru chuckled.
"It can't be that bad. Besides, I have a wild side you know." I said, partly lying.
"Well, what are you going to tell your parents? You probably can't get away with going to an LGBTQ cafe." Nikoru seriously said, looking a little convinced that I can't handle this (which I probably can't).
"I will just tell them that I am going to my friends house for Bible study! They are sure to let me go!" I said, trying to pack up all of my things to get to class.
"Weren't you the one that just scolded me for lying to my parents?" Nikoru laughed
"I take that back, lying can be useful every now and then." I said, while laughing with Nikoru.
"Alright, well it is a date! I'll meet you at Jibaku Park at 4:30pm tomorrow. Don't be late!" Nikoru said, rushing to her next class.
"I won't!" I said, sounding promising.
I'm not scared of being late...
I'm scared of lying to my parents.
