"Huh' I say with pure confusion in my voice. "What does he mean?" I thought to myself.
"I said no. You said you have a lot of homework, and I don't want you to fall behind with your schoolwork! You can go to Rinoka's another time." My dad said in a stern voice, while leaving my room.
"But-" I tried to say, but I was cut off with my dads upsetting voice.
"I said no!" My dad said from halfway down the hall. And just as quick as he entered my room, he was gone.
"I promised Nikoru that I would meet her at Jikuba park at 4:30pm, now what am I going to do?" I thought nervously as I was pacing around my room for the second time in ten minutes. If you couldn't already tell, I'm a pacer.
Right as I was about to try and convince my parents that I finished all of my homework, my phone rang. It was Nikoru!
"Is that Rinoka?" My dad yelled from dowstairs, his voice booming through the entire house.
"Uh, yeah! She is probably just calling to ask me what time I am coming, but I'll tell her I can't go!" I lied through my teeth, trying to answer it but my hands were way too sweaty from all of my nervous pacing.
"Hello?" I said, acting confused.
"Hey Keitorin! It's me Nikoru by the way. I was just wonderi-" Nikoru started, but couldn't finish after I rudely interrupted her, which my parents told me never to do.
"Oh hey Rinoka! I am sorry to let you know that I can't attend our Bible Study group tonight, but maybe tomorrow!" I nervously spoke, feeling like I was going to hurl.
"What Bible Study? This is Nikoru not Rinoka. I thoguht we were going to the LGBTQ+ cafe tonight?" Nikoru questioned, sounding like I was speaking gibberish to her.
"Yeah sorry, go to get back to studying though! Talk tomorrow! *Beep*" I hung up that phone before Nikoru could even say another syllabul to me.
"Now what am I going to do?" I worried. I promised Nikoru that I would be allowed to go but as it is now, it looks like I might not get the chance to even speak to her ever again!
"Hopefully she didn't take that call personally" I thoguht while pacing around my room for the third time today. If she did take that call personally then she may be so mad and hurt by me tomorrow that she might not evenmake eye contact with me.
As I was about to walk down the stairs to go eat dinner, my phone rang again from my bedroom.
I was expecting to see that Nikoru was trying to call me to clear up all of the confusion, but what I was next made my stomach do like 60000000 flips. I felt as though my whole life flashed before my eyes.
It was Kineti, the leader of the back alley LGBTQ+ support group.
