You're going to find out what happened to Emily in this chapter. I"m excited for you to read this chapter... I just thought I'd help you be prepared for what might happen...

Hotch, Morgan, and Reid ran out to the van as fast as they could, Hotch's phone still held up to his ear. They slammed the car doors shut, Morgan driving. Hotch had shotgun to stay on the phone, and Reid got stuck sitting in the back.

"JJ, we're on our way. What's wrong?" Hotch's level of concern only rose as JJ paused before answering his question.

"Emily is going into shock. I don't know much else. You need to get her before-" JJ couldn't bring herself to say the words. Emily might survive. But with every single passing second, the chances became lower and lower. Emily was tough. She probably wouldn't let go. Maybe it would be better if she did. Maybe it'd be better if she let go before she was hurting more.

Emily was back in Quantico. More specifically, she was back in the BAU. "Hi! Agent Hotchner?" Emily wasn't in control of what she was seeing. Where was she? It didn't look familiar... Wait...

Hotch's response came. "Yes." They shook hands, and Emily realized exactly where she was. She was in her past. When she had first joined the BAU. This was the first time she had seen everything she ever wanted. It was right in front of her, but she couldn't have it. And then she did.

"I'm Agent Emily Prentiss." Emily Prentiss. Agent. The first time she had ever seen Hotch. And the first time she knew exactly where she had always wanted to be.

She remembered that day. Emily didn't know why of all things, her brain showed her this moment. Emily knew from stories of people on the verge of death that they had seen something, almost something trying to allow them to decide if they were going to stay or not.

Why was she thinking about her first time at the BAU? Time sped forward again, revealing her in a new time. It was right after Hotch and the team had gotten back from the Mill Creek Killer/Hollow Man case. "This isn't a whirl, Agent Hotchner. I don't know how the paperwork got screwed up. I belong in this unit. And all I'm asking you for is the chance to show you that."

Hotch had given her a chance. And it made Emily's future. She met JJ there. She made her best friends here. Hotch, Rossi, Morgan, Reid, Garcia, JJ. And she was going to have to let them go. She would have to say goodbye to the people that she loved more than anyone. They had been here for her, and in turn, she had been there for them.

If Emily didn't owe it to herself, she owed it to them. And now she had to make her choice. The choice was simple. They wouldn't be mad at her for letting go. They would be mad at herself for putting her in danger and making her make the choice. "I belong in this unit. I belong in this unit."

Emily knew why she was seeing this at that moment. Because she did belong at the BAU. She wasn't going to let this just be a chance or a whirl. Hotch was the one she saw because the BAU was the most significant thing in her life. it was her destiny. This is where she is meant to be. The reality faded, and Emily realized where she was again...

Doctors, nurses, all around her, yet she couldn't seem to open her eyes. "1... 2... 3... Clear!" They were hocking her again, trying to save her. The choice was really up to her.

Sometimes, there's a moment where you see everything you've ever wanted. But it's just not there. But for Emily, it was there. There was JJ, the team. It was Emily's chance to prove once again to Hotch that this wasn't just a flaw in the paperwork. She belongs in this unit.

Emily awoke, the doctors staring down over her. "Check her vitals. We need to go into surgery in the next few minutes. I don't want anyone in here. Give her coworkers an update. They can see her when she gets out of surgery.

Hotch, Morgan, and Reid ran up to JJ. "Is she ok?" Hotch said sharply.

JJ's face was tear-stained, and Garcia stepped forward in her place. "We don't have any news on Emily, but I'm sure she'll be ok. She's gonna be ok. She has to..." Garcia's voiced trailed off.

Reid popped in with a new statistic. "There are different stages of shock, based on blood loss. Based on the time Emily was in her house, she only had time to lose up to 30% of her blood. She should be ok, but there's nothing guaranteed.

A nurse stepped out of the doors where Emily was being held. Everyone's heads turned to her as she entered. "Ok, agents. I have some good news. Emily survived going into shock. However, she has to go into surgery. The surgery is to remove the bullet, and we can't promise that something won't go wrong. However, we can say that it is looking up for her. I'm afraid that's all I can say at the time. When she gets out of surgery, you'll be able to go in and see her. Thank you."

The nurse walked away. The news was good. Hotch began speaking, almost as if he forgot exactly what they saw at Emily's house. "We have a break in the case. This is going to be hard for you to hear, but our unsub-" Hotch's voice faltered. For once, he was utterly speechless about a case.

"What is it, Hotch?" Rossi asked. It was going to be hard for the team to understand and comprehend the news.

"Elle's the unsub. On Prentiss's walls, she wrote Rules. Elle fits the profile, and she's the only one who would have that insider knowledge. It makes sense why she is targeting Prentiss," Morgan finished for Hotch. He understood why it was so difficult hor Hotch to say.

Garcia gasped, tears spilling from her eyes. "Elle? No, she couldn't have done-"

"Elle Greenway?" Spencer had a secret about Elle, something no one knew yet. And his secret was likely about to be revealed.

Author's Note:

I wouldn't really kill off Prentiss. I know I scared you,and I'm sorry. I hope this chapter's cliffhanger isn't as bad as the others. The next chapter should be up on Friday-Saturday. The past few chapters have been me impulsively uploading because I want to find out what happens just as much as you do. The next chapter is an Elle-centered one, so I'm actually so excited to write it. Thank you all so much for the support! I'll be back with the next chapter in a few days.
