I woke up covered head to toe in sweat from the morning sun. My immediate reaction after waking up was to panic at the scene around me, but one look at the boy sleeping next to me reminded me of the previous night. He was sprawled out on his stomach with one arm across my chest. I wiggled my way out from under him and started packing my stuff up, careful not to wake him. As soon as I was on my feet, I heard my phone buzzing from under one the blanket. I jumped down, trying to find it before it could wake Hawk but I was too late. His eyes flickered open and he smiled at the sight of me. My hand found my phone and I hit the decline button on the call.

"Good morning." Hawk said in his groggy morning voice.

"Morning." I said softly while folding one of the blankets. I couldn't help but feel guilty for last night's events. We were so back and forth that it was starting to hurt.

"Where are you going?" Hawk asked while reaching out and grabbing onto one of my wrists

"Schools soon. We have to start getting ready." I was trying to find a way of leaving before I made any other bad decisions.

"Lets ditch today, do something fun." He sat up and started helping me fold the last blanket. I stayed silent until it was completely folded and then said the thing I was most anxious about.

"That's a bad idea." I grabbed my bag and looked Hawk in the eyes. I could immediately tell that he was confused and upset. "This was a bad idea. We can't keep doing this to each other."

"What? Be happy together?" He laughed a little, thinking that what I was saying was ridiculous.

"We're messing with each other's feelings for our own benefit. I don't know about you but I have a hard time saying no to you. It's...it's toxic." I hated using that word but it was the only thing I could think of saying.

"No, what we have is love and nothing else. We've been through it all. I think what we are going through is completely normal." He didn't seem angry at all which honestly worried me. He was mostly shocked by my words.

"This isn't normal. You are not normal.  I know you're going through a lot of shit right now but I can't keep defending you especially after what you did to Demetri. I know who you truly are but it obvious that you are still trying to figure that out yourself." I fidgeted with the keys to my car. He was silent, afraid to say anything so I continued. "This isn't happening again until you can prove to me that you've changed. I'm sorry." I waited a second to see how he was going to respond. He looked at me, thinking hard and then slowly nodded his head, agreeing with me. I took this as my sign to leave. If I had stayed there any longer, I would have ended up taking it back and falling into his arms like I always did.

I rushed home and snuck in through my window to get ready. As per usual I was running late for school, but my parents had already left for work so they didn't notice. They had been less strict since Miguel had gotten out of the hospital. They assumed I was spending all my free time helping him relearn walking. I thought they saw it as some kind of charity work.

I took my time getting ready and finally made my way to school. By the time I arrived, it was the middle of lunch so I found my normal table with Moon, Yasmine, and Sam. The last time I had seen Sam was in the hospital when she was having a mental breakdown. I sat down in the empty seat next to her and waited to talk until she acknowledged me.

"Hey, where have you been?" She asked to make small talk.

"I slept in." I looked at her and she didn't look like herself. Her hair was in a messy bun and she wasn't wearing any makeup. Sam was always consistently put together. "How are you?" I asked, concerned.
