The party had finally begun once a large group of kids from school showed up. They all came over to me, telling me happy birthday with awkward hugs. I was surprised that any of the people even knew who I was considering I only ever talked to the Cobra Kais. I was standing awkwardly in the corner with a beer while people watching. Mostly everyone had some sort of drink in their hand, and they were all smiling and laughing. Miguel was the only one who looked upset. I started to walk over to him, but Hawk showed up in front of me.
"Where have you been? You disappeared like twenty minutes ago." I asked him.
"I want to show you something. Come here." He led me into the woods, away from the people. We were fully in private before he stopped walking and turned around to me. I spoke before he said anything.
"Have you noticed how upset Miguel is? I'm starting to worry about him." I said to Hawk.
"I bring you out here in the middle of the woods on your birthday, and you ask about Miguel? Is there something I should be worried about?" He seemed scared of my answer. Did he suspect that I had a thing for Miguel?
"Oh sorry, I guess that is crazy." Hawk was silent, forcing me to say something again. "So, what did you want to show me?" I put my arms around his shoulders and got close to his face.
"I got something for you." He tore his shirt off to reveal my name tattooed across his left peck. "So I'll always have you on my heart. Olivia, I love you." I was speechless. He just made such a commitment to me. I knew I had to say something, but I wasn't sure if I meant it.
"I love you too." I leaned in and kissed him in celebration of the moment. As soon as his lips touched mine my heart fluttered like it was our first kiss. I definitely loved him, but I didn't know if I loved Hawk or the Eli Moskowitz that I once knew.
He shoved me up against a tree, hurting my back, but I didn't say anything. I was too distracted by the adrenaline rush I got from kissing my boyfriend. The kiss was softer then normal making me miss the roughness of our passion. Hawk gently grabbed my face and separated our lips.
"I have something else for you." He pushed his hand into his front jean pocket looking for something. When he found it, he slowly pulled it out. In his hand was a dainty silver necklace with a little hawk dangling from the chain. "I had it made for you." It was beautiful.
"Will you put it on me?" I turned my back to him and pulled my hair away from my neck. Within seconds he clamped the necklace around my neck. I looked down to see the hawk hanging down my chest. I grabbed it in admiration. "Thank you. I love it, and I love you." I turned back around and gave him a quick kiss. "We should get back. It's almost five, which means Yasmine and her gang will be here soon." Hawk grinned at me. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and kissed the top of my head while we walked back to the partying teenagers.
That whole moment made me feel like I was in a dream, but reality set in when Kyler's jeep pulled up. Hawk and I joined Aisha around the bonfire to wait for Yasmine's reaction. Yasmine, Moon, Kyler, and one of Kyler's jerk friends stopped at the top of the hill when they saw my Cobra Kai birthday party. Yasmine was yelling something at Kyler, but Kyler made eye contact with me and hesitated. I waved my fingers at him, hoping he would get the courage to come to the party. I always enjoyed kicking his ass. He and his friend turned around, and Yasmine followed still yelling at him. Moon, however, was standing and staring at someone. Hawk shifted beside me, and I saw him smile at her. She smiled back. What the hell was going on? I took a step closer to Hawk, wrapping my arms around his torso. His arm naturally snaked around my waist and broke the flirty moment he shared with Moon. Even though I had just claimed Hawk as mine, Moon still made her way over to the party. Yasmine followed behind her and the guys left with their car. Great, now I had to deal with the two of them on my birthday.
