Thea sat on top of her balcony railing, listing to the wind fly by her ears. Thea felt always felt at peace and at home on that balcony. Observing the quiet city of Naboo that she would soon be the queen of. The feeling of peace flew through her body. Thea felt like nothing on the entire planet could break it.
"Princess Thea?" came Thea's maid's voice to break her peace.
"Yes?"
"The Queen needs you in the throne room."
Thea took one last breath of the fresh afternoon air before walking back into the muggy palace. Thea wanted to return to the state she was in the moment before. But she knew her priorities as the princess were much higher on the list than her fantasies.
The queen was sitting on her throne chair, guards on either side of her chair. Thea walked to the circle in the middle of the room to curtsy for the queen. When she raised from her curtsy, the queen was standing a few inches away from her. Thea looked up at the queen's face. She had a scared look on her ghost-white face.
"Guards leave us alone, please." The queen demanded while signing them off.
While the guards were leaving the queen starting walking back to her throne chair as Thea followed.
"Queen Soruna, what is wrong? I didn't think we were going to meet today?" Thea asked as taking the seat in front of Queen Soruna's desk.
The queen slides a hologram disk across the desk to be right in front of the seat. Thea looked up at the queen, confused why she was giving her this disk. Thea pressed the button on the disk. A blue holographic screen appeared in front of her. It showed two First Order Finalizers Ships flying towards theed.
"I don't understand. Why are you showing me this?" Thea asked while examining the two ships.
The queen walked over to the bay window, looking over the kingdom of Naboo below. She let out a shaky breath. Thea could tell something was wrong.
"You must leave Naboo, Thea. They're coming The first order. They will stop at nothing to take control of Naboo. Which would mean taking all people of power in Naboo's government. That means me and you are in grave danger." She told while trying to push through the fear rising in her. She then looked back at Thea, who was shaking in fear. "I will stay here in Naboo. You will take an escape pod to Takodana, where there you will go to Maa's palace. You will be safe there."
The queen grabs Thea's hand that was still shaking vigorously. Tears forming in both the Queen's and Thea's eyes.
"But Queen Soruna, what about you? They will kill you if you don't cooperate with them." Thea warned.
"Thea. My place is with the people of Naboo. If that means I die while fighting for them. Then that is the fate I accept." Queen Soruna places her hand on Thea's face. "If I die, you will be appointed the new Queen of Naboo."
"My Queen, I'm not ready to rule an entire planet," Thea said as a tear rolled down her face.
Thea felt as if she was watching her mentor walk into her unavoidable doom, and that there is nothing she can do to stop it.
"Thea, you are ready to be-" The Queen was cut off by a loud bang in the near distance.
Both Thea and the Queen ran to the window. A huge fire was spreading through the field in the center of the town. Thick, black smoke created a black cloud among the blue skies.
Thea looked up to the sky to see what could have caused the explosion in the field. There were the two Finalizers that were in the hologram. They were slowly coming directly towards the castle.
Thea tapped Queen Soruna shoulder to grab her attention.
"Queen Soruna look! There they are!" Thea exclaimed.
Soruna froze at the sight of the two massive ships in the sky. Suddenly, the Queen took Thea's sleeve and pulled her into the hallway.
Soruna and Thea ran down the hallway while the Soruna guided Thea to the escape pods.
Thea could feel the tears streaming down her warm, rosy cheeks. She was now shaking more than ever. Her knees giving out from the fast pace they were running at.
Thea could see the small door to the escape pod. She froze dead in her tracks. Thea wanted to continue running, but something subconsciously stopped her from continuing.
"I can't do this! I can't leave you to die!" Thea yelled.
She felled to her knees. Crying hysterically, her tears dripping onto the tile floor. The queen walked slowly towards Thea. She bent down to her knees to be in level with Thea.
"Thea, you can do this. I will be ok. We will meet again, alive." Soruna said while a single tear fell down her cheek.
The queen pulled Thea to her feet. They walked hand in hand to the escape pod door. Thea still crying.
Thea was about to enter the escape pod when Soruna spun her around to face her.
"Thea, I have something for you." Soruna unclasped the golden necklace from around her neck. "This is for you to always remember where you came from."
Soruna put the necklace on Thea's neck. Thea admired the golden necklace. It glistened in the sun.
The sounds of Storm Troopers radios broke the moment, echoing in the distance. Soruna grabbed Thea's hand.
"It is time," Soruna said.
Thea walked into the escape pod while the door closed behind her. Thea looked at Queen Soruna through the small glass window. They both put their hands up to the window, overlapping each other. A countdown starting from ten started in the escape pod.
Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four-
Thea gave one last look at Queen Soruna before the count ended. It was peaceful and comforting in the hectic moment. Thea gave the best smile she could for Soruna. But it's like her face muscles prevented her from doing it.
Two, one,
The escape pod detached from the palace. Thea continued to look out the window, watching the place grow smaller and smaller till it was nothing.
