Adopted?

3rd person POV

"What happened?" Vrushali asked Karn once Dev left.

"I talked to mata! She said she'll come to talk to them and depending on that she'll talk to pitashree! We might be able to take them in Vrushu!" Karn smiled.

"That's amazing! When is she coming??" Vrushali asked excitedly, they had both grown somewhat attached to those kids very quickly.

"Probably tonight, maybe tomorrow..." Karn said sitting down on the sorta sort of nervous. "There's no way she'll be able to say no! Look at those kids! They need help and mom helps people..." Karn tried to reassure her or maybe himself.

"If she's coming so soon we should definitely talk to them... do they even want to get adopted? This can go very wrong very easily," Vrushali said sort of nervous.

"I know! That's why I'm worried! Maybe we should talk to them together... I feel like they'll take it better together..." Karn said reassuringly.

"Hmm you're right, I'll finish up dinner and we can talk to them." Vrushali said, Karn nodded and Vrushali went to the kitchen where her father was happily humming while cutting up some vegetables.

"You seem happy," he says not even looking back.

"You're the one humming and dancing around, what next birds fly to our window?" Vrushali chuckles and started lighting the fire.

"I'm just in a jolly mood kiddo! As anyone should be! Now what's the reason for your happiness other than that... uh friend... in the living room." Her father chuckled looking at her.

"Pitashree!! We're friends, he's just here cause he talked to Radha kaki about the kids. To take them in..." she smiles.

"Really?? Wow, very generous of her. Affording 4 kids isn't easy." Vaidya ji says kinda shocked.

"Mmhmm... it really is. They're good people, they're good kids. I hope it works out for everyone." She smiles.

"Hmm..." Vaidya ji nods and brings the vegetables towards Vrushali and sat down beside her lightly patting her head.

They both got to making dinner, the sound of sizzling vegetables, smell of fresh spices and food filling the kitchen, and soon fresh curry and rice were ready. Vrushali quickly washed her hands leaving her father and Karn to bring out the food and went towards Nakuls room. She knocked on the small wooden door.

"Come in!" She heard Devs voice. She smiled and opens the door to see the two brothers sitting on the bed.

"You're awake?" She raises her eyebrow.

"Yup! The food smells delicious and I'm starving." Nakul says yawning.

"Good. The foods ready. I'll bring some over," she smiles just as Karn came down the small hallway with a tray of warm curry and rice. They both come in, the boys eyes lighting up at the sight of the food. She puts the tray in front of them and gestures them to start eating.

Nakul without a doubt started helping himself to his serving but dev was hesitant. Karn noticed almost immediately and comes and sits down beside dev who was looking at the food unsure.

"You know you can only calm hunger down by actually eating the food not staring at it, sadly that doesn't work," he chuckles and puts the plate in front of him.

Dev rolls his eyes and nods a little with a small smile, "I know... uh I'm just not that hungry I guess..."

"You haven't eaten since morning dev, eat." Vrushali says sitting down on the small stool on the other side of the bed.

"I know I-"

"They're right twinie eat, it's important ya know," Nakul says putting his own plate in front of dev.

Dev sighs and nods but before he can eat, Nakul makes a morsel and puts it to his lips.

"The foods will get cold and you're too much of an idiot to eat when you're told just once." Nakul chuckles, dev gives him a 'are you serious look' but eats nonetheless.

"I'm not a kid idiot!" Dev says the minute he swallows.

"Yes you are!! You're a child!" Nakul chuckles.

Vrushali and Karn just looking at the brothers with a smile, as the brothers start to bicker Vrushali gives Karn a look to say something.

"Guys-"

"A couple minutes really isn't a lot nakul!!" Dev talks over him but pauses realizing he was trying to say something and looks at him.

Karn just clears his throat and they both stop, "thank you! Now listen... um... this might seem a little sudden but it's an important conversation, and it's best you both listen." Karn says kinda seriously, and they both nod.

"What is it?" Nakul asks raising his eyebrow.

"Well... Um Dev told us you guys don't really have any relatives and once you're treated you're gonna need a place to stay..."

Nakul POV

"-to stay..." my heart sank. He's right, we're gonna need a place to stay, money, food. What're we gonna do??

"So Karn has a proposition..." Vrushali interrupts my quickly spiralling thoughts.

"What kind of proposition?" Dev asks immediately, I can feel him tense up and sorta rest my hand on his knee and look at Karn questioningly.

"We'd like to adopt you..." as soon as he said those words I froze in shock... why would he want to adopt us?? That- that's crazy! This could solve most of the issues but at the same time... I'm not sure. A new family? After everything that happened just doesn't seem right... So I don't say anything...

"What do you mean??" Dev asks breaking the silence.

"Well um... look we know you're in a tough spot and we want to help. I talked to my mother... you're kids. You have your whole life ahead of you and if we leave you to fend for yourself god knows what will happen! I don't want an unfortunate situation to ruin your lives... so I talked to her and she decided that she'd come see you two and we might be able to take you in..." Karn says smiling a little nervously.

I nod slightly my thoughts still a little all over the place and look at Dev who seems to be lost in his own thoughts before we can say anything though we hear shuffling out in the hall and the voices of two people, Vaidya ji and some older woman...

"That must be her!" Karn says standing up, "now you guys just need to talk to her ok? It's nothing to wo-"

"No." Dev interrupts him, "You're not adopting us..."

Hey guys! Thanks for being patient ig. I know I haven't been updating and I've honestly stopped bothering to apologize ✌️😗

I made a schedule for myself! So I'll be updating this book every Wednesday at 8pm eastern time. (I know I updated this early I just finished writing this chapter early) And the schedule for my other books is on my conversation board! (Let's just hope I follow it 🤞😂)
